5(6)-Carboxy-rhodamine 110 isomers were rapidly synthesized by condensation of 3-aminophenol and trimellitic anhydride using microwave irradiation as heating method. After esterification of the two isomers, separation and hydrolyzation provided target products,5-carboxy-rhodamine 110 and 6-carboxy-rhodamine 110, in high yields. The results shows microwave irradiation can effectively reduce ...

A caged rhodamine 110 derivative for the specific labeling of SNAP-tag fusion proteins is introduced. The caged rhodamine 110 derivative permits the labeling of cell surface proteins in living cells and of intracellular proteins in fixed cells. The probe requires only a single caging group to maintain the fluorophore in a non-fluorescent state and becomes highly fluorescent after uncaging. The ...

A derivative of rhodamine 110 has been designed and assessed as a probe for cytochrome P450 activity. This probe is the first to utilize a 'trimethyl lock' that is triggered by cleavage of an ether bond. In vitro, fluorescence was manifested by the CYP1A1 isozyme with k(cat)/K(M)=8.8x10(3)M(-1)s(-1) and K(M)=0.09microM. In cellulo, the probe revealed the induction of cytochrome P450 activity by...

An efficient synthesis of original bio-reductive probes suitable for the detection of azoreductases from the fluorescent rhodamine 110 dye is presented. A "turn-on" green fluorescence response upon reduction of the two diazo bonds of these latent fluorophores was observed both in vitro and in the context of bacterial cultures.

Ratiometric Laser Induced Fluorescence (LIF) Thermometry is applied for temperature measurements in a ‘T’ junction, using microscale visualization methods. Rhodamine B (RhB) and Rhodamine 110 (Rh110) are used as the temperature-dependent and temperature-independent dye, respectively. The temperature responses of the two dyes were carefully measured for different concentrations. A novel normaliz...

• N-deethylation of Rhodamine B (Rh-B) leads to Rhodamine-110 (Rh-110) formation. The photocatalytic RhB transformation and degradation are wavelength dependent. mechanism Rh-110 has been revisited. does not involve reactive oxygen species. reaction involves the photoinduced electron transfer between TiO 2. Understanding 2 -assisted phototransformations observed for fundamentally important deri...

Ratiometric laser induced fluorescence (LIF) thermometry is developed as a tool for temperature measurements using microscale visualization methods. Rhodamine B (RhB) and Rhodamine 110 (Rh110) are used as the temperature-dependent and temperature-independent dyes, respectively. The temperature responses of the two dyes are carefully measured as a function of concentration. The traditional twody...

The design, synthesis, and spectroscopic and chemical properties of four members of a new class of heterobifunctional photocleavable (caged) cross-linking reagents were described. One of the two reactive groups of the cross-linker reacted with amino groups to form the corresponding photolabile carbamates. Amino group containing compounds or proteins caged with these reagents can be coupled thro...

Photoactivatable “caged” fluorophores enable numerous advanced biological imaging experiments, including photoactivated localization microscopy (PALM) and related super-resolution imaging techniques. Of the extant fluorophore scaffolds, caged rhodamines and fluoresceins display properties that are exceptionally well suited for superresolution microscopy, exhibiting high contrast and photon yiel...
