OBJECTIVE The purpose of this study was to compare the penetration of 808 and 980 nm laser light through bovine tissue samples 18-95 mm thick. BACKGROUND DATA Low-level laser therapy (LLLT) is frequently used to treat musculoskeletal pathologies. Some of the therapeutic targets are several centimeters deep. METHODS Laser light at 808 and 980 nm (1 W/cm(2)) was projected through bovine tissu...

BACKGROUND The purpose of the study is to determine the optical properties and their differences for normal human stomach mucosa/submucosa tissue in the cardiac orifice in vitro at 635, 730, 808, 890 and 980 nm wavelengths of laser. METHODS The measurements were performed using a CCD detector, and the optical properties were assessed from the measurements using the spatially resolved reflecta...

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE Photobiomodulation (PBM) also known as low-level light therapy has been used successfully for the treatment of injury and disease of the nervous system. The use of PBM to treat injury and diseases of the brain requires an in-depth understanding of light propagation through tissues including scalp, skull, meninges, and brain. This study investigated the light penetration...

The InnoSlab laser has the advantages of excellent thermal management and high overlapping efficiency. In this work, we report an with efficiency at 1319 nm end-pumped 0.6at.% Nd:YAG by 808 nm. hybrid stable–unstable resonator was adopted. For a cavity length 17.9 mm absorbed pumped power 423.5 W, output 81 W obtained T = 5%, exhibiting optical conversion 19.13% slope 29.80%.

Background: Epidemiologic studies show an inverse or U-shaped relation between sleep duration and BMI. Decreases in total energy expenditure (TEE) and physical activity have been suggested to be contributing factors. Objective: The objective was to assess the effect of sleep fragmentation on energy metabolism and energy balance in healthy men. Design: Fifteen healthy male subjects [mean6 SD BMI...

Lateral photovoltaic effect has been studied in p-La0.67Ca0.33MnO3/n-Si heterojunction. Under illumination of continuous 808 nm laser beam on the film surface, a transient photovoltaic overshoot accompanied with the steady signal was observed when the laser turned off and on. The open-circuit photovoltage had a linear dependence on illuminated position, and the sensitivity reached 0.75 mV mW(-1...

Remittances and Inequality: A Dynamic Migration Model We develop a model of the interdependencies between migration, remittances and inequality, and investigate how migration and subsequent remittances affect inter-household inequality in the origin communities. An important feature of our model is that we take into account the impact of migration on the local (rural) labor market. Migration is...

The RGD-binding α5 and αv integrins have been shown to be key regulators of vascular smooth muscle cell (vSMC) function in vitro. However, their role on vSMCs during vascular development in vivo remains unclear. To address this issue, we have generated mice that lack α5, αv or both α5 and αv integrins on their vSMCs, using the SM22α-Cre transgenic mouse line. To our surprise, neither α5 nor αv ...
