A mononuclear Fe(II) complex bearing 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid (ACCH) was synthesized and characterized. X-ray crystallography demonstrated that ACC binds to the Fe(II) ion in a bidentate mode constituting the first structural mimic of the expected binding of ACC to the Fe(II) center of the ethylene forming enzyme ACC-oxidase (ACCO). [Fe(BPMEN)ACC]SbF6 also constitutes a functional ...

[ ZH2 IACC) ; 1-amino [ 2R, 3E-2H2] cyc lopropaneIcar boxy 1 ic acid (trans-[zH2]ACC) : and l-amino[2,2.3.3-~H~]cyclopropane1-carboxylic acid are described. The [2,2-2H2]and [2,2,3.3-2H4]ACC compounds were prepared from the appropriately deuterated 2-bromoethanol 4-methylbenzenesulfonates by reaction with ethyl isocyanoacetate and two moles oE sodium hydride. The transr2H2]ACC and &[2H2]ACC wer...

1-Aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate (ACC) oxidase enzyme catalyses the final step in ethylene biosynthesis, converting 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid to ethylene. A cDNA clone encoding an ACC oxidase, ST-ACO3, was isolated from potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) by differential screening of a Fusarium eumartii infected-tuber cDNA library. The deduced amino acid sequence exhibited similarity to ...

In this report, a draft of the Enterobacter asburiae strain PDA134 genome was sequenced. This bacterial strain was isolated from the root tissue of a date palm, where it has the ability to produce 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid (ACC) deaminase and indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) under salinity stress.

Biosynthesis of the phytohormone ethylene in higher plants proceeds via the following pathway: S-adenosylmethionine----1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid (ACC)----ethylene. Ethylene-forming enzyme (EFE), the enzyme responsible for the oxidation of ACC to ethylene, has been only partially characterized in vitro. We have obtained authentic EFE activity in vitro from extracts of avocado fruit (...

Acidic cloudwater is believed to cause needle injury and to decrease winter hardiness in conifers. During simulations of these adverse conditions, rates of ethylene emissions from and levels of 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid (ACC) in both red and Norway spruce needles increased as a result of treatment with acidic mists but amounts of 1-malonyl(amino)cyclopropane-1carboxylic acid remaine...

1-Aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid (ACC) oxidase (ACCO) catalyses the final step in ethylene biosynthesis converting ACC to ethylene, cyanide, CO2, dehydroascorbate and water with inputs of Fe(II), ascorbate, bicarbonate (as activators) and oxygen. Cyanide activates ACCO. A 'nest' comprising several positively charged amino acid residues from the C-terminal α-helix 11 along with Lys158 and A...

Pseudomonas fluorescens is a well-known plant growth-promoting rhizobacterium (PGPR). We report here the first whole-genome sequence of PGPR P. fluorescens evaluated in Colombian banana plants. The genome sequences contains genes involved in plant growth and defense, including bacteriocins, 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid (ACC) deaminase, and genes that provide resistance to toxic compounds.
