anticonvulsant activity of 7-phenyl-5h-thiazolo[5,4-e][1,2,3,4]tetrazolo[5,1-c]pyrrolo[1,2-a][1,4]diazepine (5) and 7-phenyl-5h-thiazolo[5,4-e][1,3,4]triazolo[5,1-c]pyrrolo[1,2-a][1,4]diazepines (6a-d) was measured against pentylenetetrazole (ptz)-induced seizures in mice. intraperitoneal injections of different doses (12.5, 25 and 50 mg/kg, i.p.) of test compounds decreased ptz-induced seizure...

In two prospective studies of anticonvulsant therapy there was a high incidence of drug-induced skin reactions to phenytoin (7%) and carbamazepine (16.6%). High initial serum concentrations of these drugs appeared to be a factor influencing the occurrence of such skin reactions.

two novel 3-amino-5-(4-choloro-2-phenoxyphenyl)-4h-1,2,4-triazole derivatives were prepared and their anticonvulsant activity was measured by evaluation of the ability of these compounds to protect mice against convulsion induced by lethal doses of pentylenetetrazole (ptz). diazepam (sigma) was considered as a positive control drug with anticonvulsant effect [ed50 = 1.2 (0.5-1.9) mg/kg]. amongs...

a review of the publications in traditional medicine indicates that the root of glycyrrhiza glabra l., fabaceae, is recommended for treatment of epilepsy. as a renewable source, the leaves of g. glabra var. glandulifera growing in iran were examined for possible anticonvulsant activity. the anticonvulsant activity of the leaves’ ethanol extract and dichloromethane, f1, n-hexane, f1a, and methan...

We report a patient with abnormal saccades in association with anticonvulsant toxicity (phenytoin 27.5 micrograms/ml, phenobarbital 18.8 micrograms/ml). The patient looked toward visual targets either with multiple, small, hypometric saccades or with single slow saccades. These abnormalities resolved when anticonvulsant levels returned to therapeutic range. Thus, slow saccades may be clinical e...

In our previous studies we have reported the CNS activities of the synthesised heterocyclic ring compounds (1,2). Certain phenylurethanes of pyrazolidinols and piperidazinols have moderate anticonvulsant activity (3). Some 2-(N-substituted glycylamino)-methylthiazoles and (l-phenyl-l-hydroxycthyl) azoles have been found to possess, anticonvulsant and anxiolytic activities (4,5). A series of 5-a...
