The effect of five fungicides and tea extracts was tested against anthracnose disease and leaf spot of Azalea during summer (2015) at the laboratory in Rasht Branch, Islamic Azad University. Commercially formulated fungicides at 1000, 2000 and 3000 ppm concentrations and the regression of normalized growth rate were used to determine the EC50. The application of different fungicides on Pestalot...

sunn pest is one of the most important cereal pests that affect both grain yield and quality of cerealin iran. one potential control strategy is to use entomopathogenic fungi such as beauveriabassiana vuillemin as mycoinsecticide to control this pest. naturally infested sunn pests inkermanshah province were collected and brought to laboratory. 10 isolates were selected forfurther analysis in th...

We performed serial agar cultures (CFU-C) using marrow cells from a patient with prednisone-responsive aplastic anemia and from five patients with prednisone-resistant aplasia. Colony growth was decreased in all patients. Cortisol (10(-7)-10(-4)M) significantly enhanced colony growth in the prednisone-responsive patient but fauled to enhance colony growth in the remaining five patients. Further...

Peripheral blood hematopoietic progenitors (PBHP) are capable of colony growth in vitro. The effect of stem cell factor (SCF), interleukin-6 (IL-6), and basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) on myeloid colony proliferation of PBHP was determined. PBHP purified by positive selection with CD34-specific antibody were plated in semisolid agarose with reported plateau doses of interleukin-3 (IL-3), ...

background the treatment of onychomycosis is a challenge and infections are typically more severe and difficult to treat in toenails than in fingernails. objectives the current study aimed to investigate the fungicidal effect of ultraviolet radiation on the growth of dermatophytes isolated from nails. patients and methods samples from patients with clinical manifestations of onychomycosis were ...

Maximum colony growth inhibition was observed due to Pseudomonas PS2 (74%) as compared to PS1 (71%) on trypticase soy agar (TSM) plates after 5 days of incubation. Light and scanning electron microscopic examination showed hyphal coiling, vacuolation, coagulation and granulation of cytoplasm resulting in lysis of hyphae of M. phaseolina by pseudomonads. Cell free culture filtrates of strains PS...

Here we present a single-cell-based model of cell-cell interactions in a growing yeast colony. We examine the influence of multiple factors on the colony morphology and switch to a foraging growth behavior. We find that the cell-growth inhibition by neighboring cells along with polar division growth patterns are the most significant factors driving the exploratory behavior of a colony.

The top-view, two-dimensional spatial patterning of non-uniform growth in a Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast colony is considered. Experimental images are processed to obtain data sets that provide spatial information on the cell-area that is occupied by the colony. A method is developed that allows for the analysis of the spatial distribution with three metrics. The growth of the colony is quant...

Human peripheral blood monocytes and tumor-associated macrophages release a factor that enhances the clonal growth of a human epithelial tumor cell line (SW-13) in soft agar. We now demonstrate that purified interleukin 1 (IL-1) may account for part of this colony-stimulating activity. Purified IL-1 (0.5 to 8 units/ml) was added to SW-13 cells cultured in soft agar. IL-1 increased colony growth...
