In this paper Algorithm is presented to perform critical path method in a fuzzy environment. The trapezoidal fuzzy number given by decision makers or characterized by historical data are utilized to assess the activity time in a project network. The fuzzy shortest path problem thus obtained is compared with conventional method.

Several protocols have been proposed to synchronize the logical processes (LP’s) of a parallel discrete event simulation (PDES). While most protocols have been known to perform well under certain conditions, the general observation has been that the performance of protocols is sensitive to the application being simulated, sometimes even to a particular instance of it. In this technical note, we...

This paper presents the design, implementation and testing of the critical path analysis technique on the IPS performance measurement tool for parallel and distributed programs. We create a precedence graph of a program’s activities (Program Activity Graph) with the data collected during the execution of a program. The critical path, the longest path in the program activity graph, represents th...

The Critical Path Method (CPM) is useful for planning and control of complex projects. The CPM identifies the critical activities in the critical path of an activity network. The successful implementation of CPM requires the availability of clear determined time duration for each activity. However, in practical situations this requirement is usually hard to fulfil since many of activities will ...

To cut down cost in a competitive environment, airlines must avoid delays and operation inefficiencies in both airside and landside. However, previous studies have paid little attention to an airlines’ ground operation in airports’ cargo terminals. The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate how to employ the Fuzzy Critical Path method (CPM) to find out airport’s ground critical operation proce...

A natural generalization of the criticality notion in a network with fuzzy activity times is given. It consists in direct application of the extension principle of Zadeh to the notion of criticality of a path (an activity, an event) treated as a function of the activities duration times in the network. There are shown some relations between the notion of fuzzy criticality, introduced in the pap...

Critical Path method (CPM) is widely used in project scheduling and controlling. In conventional project scheduling problem, the crisp numbers are used for the activity times. But in reality, in an imprecise and uncertain environment, it is an unrealistic assumption. To represent the uncertainty involved we have considered the interval-valued numbers to represent the activity times. In this pap...

Modern processors come close to executing as fast as true dependences allow. The particular dependences that constrain execution speed constitute the critical path of execution. To optimize the performance of the processor, we either have to reduce the critical path or execute it more efficiently. In both cases, it can be done more effectively if we know the actual instructions that constitute ...
