Many existing phenomena in nature are considered new design ideas in various fields of industry. Bionics is the application of biological methods and systems found in nature to the study and design of engineering systems and modern technology. By performing bionic review, the researchers found the penguins by delivering air locked under their wings and creating air bubbles, the drag significant...

Numerical investigation of flow around a square cylinder are presented using the multi-relaxation-time lattice Boltzmann methods at different Reynolds numbers. A detail analysis are given in terms of time-trace analysis of drag and lift coefficients, power spectra analysis of lift coefficient, vorticity contours visualizations, streamlines and phase diagrams. A number of physical quantities mea...

A procedure for tailoring a blended wing-body con guration to reduce its computed wave drag is described. The method utilizes an iterative algorithm within the framework of rst-order linear theory. Four computed examples are included. In each case, the zero-lift wave drag was reduced without an increase in drag due to lift. Introduction In the initial rough-cut state of supersonic conguration d...

This paper is presents The computation of the wave-making drag of underwater vehicle by boundary element method (BEM). The method is employed constant strength doublet and source distributions on each quadrilateral element representing the body and free surface. Using Green’s function, boundary integral equation is constituted for all elements by a matrix form to determine the potential o...

SUMMARY An analysis is presented of measurements made at RAE in 1957-1959 on a series of delta wings. Lift and drag have been measured by strain-gauge balance at Mach numbers between 1.4 and 2.8. On some of the wings surface pressure distributions have also been measured. This Report deals mainly with the zero-lift wave drag, but also gives information on skin friction drag and lift-dependent d...

The aim of this study was to compare the swimming hydrodynamics assessed with experimental and analytical procedures, as well as, to learn about the relative contributions of the friction drag and pressure drag to total passive drag. Sixty young talented swimmers (30 boys and 30 girls with 13.59±0.77 and 12.61±0.07 years-old, respectively) were assessed. Passive drag was assessed with inverse d...

in this study, a numerical computational fluid dynamics study is conducted in order to predict the aerodynamic forces on the np car. the turbulent air flow around the car is modeled using the realizable k-ε model. first, results are validated against those presented for the ahmed’s body. next, the fluid flow around the car is simulated for different car speeds ( to mph) and flow directions ( to...

A robust entry guidance law without drag rate measurement is designed for drag-tracking in this paper. The bank angle is regarded as the control variable. First, a state feedback guidance law (bank angle magnitude) that requires the drag and its rate as feedback information is designed to make the drag-tracking error be input-to-state stable (ISS) with respect to uncertainties. Then a high gain...

Numerical methods are not always convergent especially in higher velocities when shock waves are involved. A comparison analysis is performed to study the supersonic flow over conical bodies of three different cross sections circular, elliptic and squircle (square with rounded corners) shaped using  Perturbation techniques to find flow variables analytically. In order to find lift and drag forc...

The Cumulative Drag Index defined recently by Prasanna [1] has been generalised to include the centrifugal acceleration. We have studied the behaviour of the drag index in the Kerr metric as well as in the linearized Kerr and its Newtonian approximations. This analysis suggests that the drag index characterises an intrinsic property of spacetime with rotation. PACS: 04.20.Cv, 04.20.Ex, 04.40.Dg
