OBJECTIVE Previous studies have shown the importance of proximal and distal endograft fixation. There is little information on the middle, unsupported section of endograft within the aneurysm sac. We quantified sideways movement of the endograft within the aneurysm sac and correlated it to late adverse events. METHODS Patients who underwent endovascular abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) repair ...

OBJECTIVE This study investigated the importance of iliac fixation to secure endograft fixation. MATERIALS AND METHODS Computed tomography (CT) scans of patients who underwent endovascular aneurysm repair with an endoprosthesis of great columnar strength (Talent stent graft) were analysed retrospectively. Patients were enrolled consecutively between June 2000 and January 2007 and prospectivel...

We report the case of a 23-year-old woman who died due to endograft stenosis 20 months after thoracic endovascular aortic repair. The patient presented with the pseudocoarctation syndrome. Although angioplasty of stenosis endograft was successfully performed, severe metabolic complications were lethal.

Aortic endograft infolding is considered a rare endograft related complication and is mostly reported after deployment in the thoracic aorta. We report a case of early abdominal endograft infolding with luminal obliteration and acute bilateral limb ischemia after endovascular treatment of a common iliac aneurysm. Even though completion Computed Tomography (CT) angiography, three days prior, rev...

We present the case of delayed migration of a thrombosed aortic endograft within a thrombosed aneurysm sac that expanded and ruptured. Dilation of the aortic neck likely led to endograft migration and exposure of the occluded endograft and aneurysm sac to systemic pressure. Although no endoleak was identified, a key finding on ultrasound showed mobility of the sac thrombus. This may be an indic...

OBJECTIVES To analyze angiotomographic parameters of juxtarenal aneurysms to assess the applicability of an endograft model to patients and to create in vitro and in vivo models to assess the new endograft. METHODS A total of 49 patients with juxtarenal aneurysms were submitted to angiotomographic evaluation, and parameters such as the aortic diameter, the length of the neck, and the angulati...

PURPOSE To describe a precannulated fenestrated endograft system utilizing externalized guidewires to facilitate aortic arch endovascular repair and to report its use in 2 patients with challenging anatomy. TECHNIQUE For distal arch repair, a fenestration for the left subclavian artery (LSA) is made onsite in a standard thoracic endograft tailored to the patient anatomy; it is precannulated w...

Purpose: Endotension has been implicated in complications following the endovascular repair of abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) such as continued AAA expansion and rupture, proximal aneurysm neck dilation, and endovascular graft migration. To begin to evaluate the role of endotension in the mechanisms of post-repair problems, the magnitude and distribution of endotension in an excluded aneurysm ...

PURPOSE To report the use of a new self-expanding endograft for percutaneous treatment of iatrogenic subclavian artery perforations. CASE REPORTS The subclavian artery of 2 patients was inadvertently cannulated during percutaneous attempts to implant a permanent pacemaker in one and catheterize the subclavian vein in the other. Because both patients had serious comorbidities, endovascular rep...

Endograft migration after endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) is known to predispose to type Ia endoleaks and aneurysm growth but rarely leads to ischemic complications. We describe the case of a patient who presented with acute limb ischemia secondary to endograft collapse and subsequent aortic occlusion. Informed consent was obtained from the patient. The patient, a 75-year-old man, underwent...
