ABSTRACT : The analytical study of reinforced concrete simply supported deep beams subjected to two point loads was carried out using finite element method to study the behavior of deep beam by considering flexural stress, flexural strain, and shear stress variations at different sections for various effective lengths to depth ratio and compared with EulerBernoulli Theory. The effective span to...

The identifiability of spatial variable coefficients for vibration string and EulerBernoulli beam are considered. It is shown that the coefficients can be determined by means of boundary control and observation in finite time duration. These results can be considered as the generalization of infinite time coefficients identifiability through the application of InghamBeurling theorem.

A geometrically exact model of a Cosserat rod with nonholonomic constraints is outlined. The constraint forces are derived from the framework of nonholonomic mechanics by using arguments from Cauchy analysis, and a thorough discussion is given concerning the nature of these constraints. By making an additional assumption on the magnitude of the deflections, a simplified model similar to the Eul...

The aim of this paper is to provide a general framework allowing to use exact observability of infinite dimensional systems to solve a class of inverse source problems. More precisely, we show that if a system is exactly observable, then we can identify a source term in this system by knowing the corresponding intensity and appropriate observations which often correspond to the measure of some ...

This paper deals with the interaction between a moving wheelset and a slab track due to the shortpitch corrugated rail. The wheelset is modeled using a free-free Timoshenko beam with attached rigid bodies as the axle boxes, wheels and brake discs. The slab track model consists of elastically supported double EulerBernoulli beams. In fact, both wheelset and slab track are symmetric structures an...

The prediction capability of the brake system vibration is still unable to cover a broad range of frequencies. Current predictive models are contained within a particular range to cater for specific vibration types. Therefore, a numerical model which could make predictions in a broad spectrum range is required. The model presented in this paper is derived with such aim. The model is derived fro...

Many of the papers studying the screw-drive system dynamic model concentrated on the control methodologies that is why vibrational models are either simple lumped models or simplified flexible beam models. In this paper a screw-drive system dynamic model and its vibrations are discussed. The screw is considered as an EulerBernoulli type flexible beam with fixed-free boundary conditions and the ...

Transverse vibration of two axially moving beams connected by a Winkler elastic foundation is analyzed analytically. The system is a model of paper and paper-cloth (wire-screen) used in paper making. The two beams are tensioned, translating axially with a common constant velocity, simply supported at their ends, and of different materials and geometry. Due to the effect of translation, the dyna...

A special attention is paid to the motion of flexible links in a robotic configuration. The elastic deformation is a dynamic value which depends on the total dynamics of the robot system movements. The Euler-Bernoulli equation should be expanded according to the requirements of the motion complexity of elastic robotic systems. The EulerBernoulli equation (based on the existing laws of dynamics)...

Applications for porous fibrous materials range from electrochemical substrates to web reinforcement in polymeric composite materials. The details of local load transfer are studied in a class of cost-effective, stochastic fibrous networks used in battery applications, which form the substrate for a composite electrode. The connectivity of these materials is quantitatively related to modulus an...
