A simple setup was assembled to study the motion of an object while it falls. The setup was used to determine the instantaneous velocity, terminal velocity and acceleration due to gravity. Also, since the whole project was done within $20 it can easily be popularized.

Hearing an object falling onto the ground, humans can recover rich information including its rough shape, material, and falling height. In this paper, we build machines to approximate such competency. We first mimic human knowledge of the physical world by building an efficient, physics-based simulation engine. Then, we present an analysis-by-synthesis approach to infer properties of the fallin...

Human based algorithms to catch fly balls have been research and studied. In this paper, the validity of the human models are tested by catching balls that are dropped vertically downward. The regular OAC (Optical Acceleration Cancellation ) and the inverted OAC models are simulated first, and then tested experimentally with a mobile robot. The simulation and the experimental results show that ...

the arguments for the immobility and centricity of the earth in the islamic astronomical literature are mostly found in the hayʾa books. the reason is that these books treat of mathematical cosmology on the basis of solid spheres and the earth's position with respect to them. these arguments, which are rooted in ptolemy's almagest, are based on observation and some pre-suppositions. i...
