Lennard-Jones-Devonshire equation of state is an old but theoretical based EOS. The concept of the nearest neighboring molecules or coordination number is proposed to be a function of temperature and volume, whereas it is a constant in the original. The dilute gas and hard sphere limits of molecules are employed to determine this function. Improvement of this modification is demonstrated by pro...

We reanalyse the cell theory of Lennard-Jones and Devonshire and find that in addition to the critical point originally reported for the 12−6 potential (and widely quoted in standard textbooks), the model exhibits a further critical point. We show that the latter is actually a more appropriate candidate for liquid-gas criticality than the original critical point. Typeset using REVTEX

Dissociation pressures of some gas hydrates have been evaluated using the Lennard-Jones 12-6 28-7 and Kihara potentials in the Lennard-Jones-Devonshire cell model. The Lennard-Jones 28-7 pot~ntial 'gives the least satisfactory results. The Lennard-Jones 12-6 potential works sa...

by considering the fact that the surface tension of a real fluid arises from a combination of both repulsive and attractive forces between molecules, a new expression for the interfacial tension has been derived from scaled particle theory (spt)  based on the work of cavity formation and the interaction energy between molecules. at the critical temperature, the interfacial tension between coexi...

A new density-functional theory is developed for representing the structural and thermodynamic properties of Lennard-Jones fluids by unifying the modified fundamental measure theory for the short-range repulsion and the first-order mean-spherical approximation ~FMSA! via the energy route for the attractive part of the intermolecular potential. This theory significantly improves the conventional...

We report the results of calculation of diffusion coefficients for Lennard-Jones liquids, based on the idea of time-scale invariance of relaxation processes in liquids. The results were compared with the molecular dynamics data for the Lennard-Jones system and a good agreement of our theory with these data over a wide range of densities and temperatures was obtained. By calculations of the non-...
