In this paper we present an adaptive method for accelerating conventional Maximum a Posteriori (MAP) with Entropy prior (MAPE) method for restoration of an original image from its blurred and noisy version. MAPE method is nonlinear and its convergence is very slow. We present a new method to accelerate the MAPE algorithm by using an exponent on the correction ratio. In this method the exponent ...

We study in this paper the consequences of using the Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) as a measure of quality for regression models. We show that finding the best model under the MAPE is equivalent to doing weighted Mean Absolute Error (MAE) regression. We show that universal consistency of Empirical Risk Minimization remains possible using the MAPE instead of the MAE.

BACKGROUND The mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) is probably the most widely used goodness-of-fit measure. However, it does not meet the validity criterion due to the fact that the distribution of the absolute percentage errors is usually skewed to the right, with the presence of outlier values. In these cases, MAPE overstates the corresponding population parameter. In this study, we propos...

Self-adaptation is typically realized using a control loop. One prominent approach for organizing a control loop in self-adaptive systems is by means of four components that are responsible for the primary functions of self-adaptation: Monitor, Analyze, Plan, and Execute, together forming a MAPE loop. When systems are large, complex, and heterogeneous, a single MAPE loop may not be sufficient f...

Population projections are judged primarily by their accuracy. The most commonly used measure for the precision component of accuracy is the mean absolute percent error (MAPE). Recently, the MAPE has been criticized for overstating forecast error and other error measures have been proposed. This study compares the MAPE with two alternative measures of forecast error, the Median APE and an M-est...

High density polyethylene (HDPE)/bamboo composites with different nanoclay and maleated polyethylene (MAPE) contents were fabricated by melt compounding. The compounding characteristics, clay dispersion, HDPE crystallization, and mechanical properties of the composites were studied. The equilibrium torque during compounding decreased with use of clay masterbatch and increased with the addition ...

Quality of service (QoS) management is becoming an integral part of current web services. Contracts are playing a very important role in MAPE-based (monitor, analyse, plan and execute) web service QoS management. Therefore, we propose a general model, contract-MAPE (C-MAPE) model, and based on this model, review five major projects in this area. The analysis results show that these major resear...

Online games are recently gained attention according to the increase of the bandwidth of the Internet. On the other hand, when we develop an online game, we have to consider the time lag problem caused by the heterogeneous environments. In this poster paper, we try to apply MAPE loop model, which consists of four key activities (Monitoring, Analysis, Planning, and Execution) for adaptation, to ...

This study investigated the mechanisms, using microscopy and strength testing approaches, by which the addition of maleic anhydride grafted high-density polyethylene (MAPE) enhances the mechanical properties of basalt fiber-wood-plastic composites (BF-WPCs). The maximum values of the specific tensile and flexural strengths are achieved at a MAPE content of 5%-8%. The elongation increases rapidl...
