We characterized 515 Mycoplasma pneumoniae specimens in Hokkaido. In 2013 and 2014, the p1 gene type 1 strain, mostly macrolide-resistant, was dominant prevalence of macrolide resistance over 50 %. After 2017, 2 lineage, macrolide-sensitive, increased became 31.0 % 5.3 2018 16.3 2019.

Objective(s): Macrolide resistant Streptococcus pneumoniae pose an emerging problem globally. The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence of ermB and mefA genes (macrolide resistant genes) by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method and to detect drug resistance patterns of S. pneumoniae isolated from clinical samples to macrolides and other antibiotic agents by E-test method. Materia...

The resistance patterns and macrolide resistance mechanisms of 910 Finnish invasive pneumococci isolated during 1999 and 2000 were studied. Macrolide resistance was detected in 6.9% of isolates. Penicillin resistance was detected in 1.5% of isolates, and penicillin intermediate resistance was detected in 4.0% of isolates. Active macrolide efflux, mediated by the mef(A) gene, was the most common...

The prevalence of quinolone- and macrolide-resistant Group B Streptococcus (GBS) is increasing worldwide, but the relationship between resistance GBS to these antibiotics patient outcome remains unclear. Therefore, we evaluated whether blood stream infection caused by or associated with high mortality. Our findings in 77 patients bacteremia demonstrate that quinolone macrolide may not be risk f...

OBJECTIVES Rates of macrolide resistance in group A streptococci (GAS) were reported to be low in the US in the 1990s. However, we documented an unexpectedly high rate of macrolide resistance among GAS in Pittsburgh, PA, in 2001 and 2002. In an effort to define the current prevalence of macrolide-resistant GAS in the US, a multicentre surveillance project was initiated. METHODS Between Octobe...

PURPOSE Macrolide resistance rate of Mycoplasma pneumoniae has rapidly increased in children. Studies on the clinical features between macrolide susceptible-M. pneumoniae (MSMP) and macrolide resistant-M. pneumoniae (MRMP) are lacking. The aim of this study was to identify the macrolide resistance rate of M. pneumoniae in Korean children with M. pneumoniae penupmonia in 2015 and compare manifes...

bronchiolitis obliterans (bo) is the most remarkable pulmonary sequels of war-related sulfur mustard inhalation. there is little if any data about long-term efficacy of associated bo treatment. five years spirometric records of three groups of patients with obstructive pulmonary diseases (asthma, copd, bo) and documented sulfur mustard inhalation were evaluated. the bo patients were treated wit...

BACKGROUND With the emergence of macrolide resistance, concerns about the efficacy of macrolides for the treatment of Mycoplasma pneumoniae (MP) pneumonia in children have been raised. This study aimed to determine the effect of macrolide resistance on the outcome of children who were hospitalized with MP pneumonia. METHODS Between 2010 and 2015, we performed culture of MP from nasopharyngeal...
