5-Substituted-1H-tetrazoles were synthesized by the [3 + 2] cycloaddition of sodium azide with various nitriles in the presence of nickel zirconium phosphate (NiZrP) as an effective heterogeneous catalyst in dimethylsulfoxide at 120 °C. This method has the advantages of good to high yields, simple methodology and easy work-up. The catalyst can be recovered by centrifuging and reused with good y...

Titanium and zirconium were immersed in Hanks’ solution with and without calcium and phosphate ions, and the surfaces were characterized with X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) to determine the mechanism of calcium phosphate formation on titanium in simulated body fluids and in a living body. In addition, they were cathodically polarized in the above solutions. As a result, neither calcium ...

Investigations of voltammetry zirconium deposition from DMSO solution on different substrates were taken. It was found that this is multi-electron process proceeding in a few stages. Moreover, zirconium layers were obtained on titanium, copper stainless steel and nickel. Obtained deposit was in form of white powder, which immediately was oxidized to ZrO2 in the presence of air.

The separation of hafnium from zirconium using tributyl phosphate offers interesting alternatives to present methods for making reactor-grade zirconium. Feed solution for the extraction step can be prepared from the reaction product of caustic and zircon sand. The purified zirconium can be converted into a variety of compounds, depending on the process chosen for reduction to the metal. It may ...

Films of highly oriented alpha-zirconium phosphate and polyaniline-intercalated zirconium phosphate with controllable thickness in the micrometer range were grown anodically on Pt electrodes. To optimize the electrodeposition conditions, the exfoliation of alpha-zirconium phosphate by tetrabutylammonium (TBA) salts was investigated in several nonaqueous solvents. Acetonitrile was found to be th...
