In this investigation, a nano-sized protein-encapsulated polymeric micelle was prepared by self-assembling human serum albumin (HSA) as a model protein and degradable block copolymer methoxy poly(ethylene glycol)-poly(β-amino ester) (PEG-PAE) with piperidine and imidazole rings. From the zeta potential measurement, the protein-encapsulated polymeric micelle showed a pH-tuning charge conversion ...

Polymeric micelles are assemblies of synthetic polymers and have been studied and developed as drug carriers for targeting. Polymeric micelles are composed of the inner core and the outer shell, and typically form from AB-type block copolymers in which two polymer blocks are connected in a tandem form. Polyethyleneglycol (PEG) has been most commonly used as one polymer block composing the outer...

We report the development of an automated chemical reactor for solid-phase synthesis of MIP NPs in water. Operational parameters are under computer control, requiring minimal operator intervention. In this study, "ready for use" MIP NPs with sub-nanomolar affinity are prepared against pepsin A, trypsin and α-amylase in only 4 hours.

BACKGROUND Polymeric micelles attract great attention in drug delivery and therapeutics. Various types of block copolymers have been designed for the application in biomedical fields. If we can introduce additional functional groups to the block copolymers, we can achieve advanced applications. In this regards, we tried to introduce aggregation induced emission enhancement (AIE) unit in the blo...

A distinct tadpole-shaped nanostructure characterized by a spherical head and an extended shaft was identified in a single plasmid DNA (pDNA)-based polymeric micelle. The tadpole-shaped structure was constructed by adding anionic chondroitin sulfate (CS) to the rod-shaped polyplex micelle containing a single pDNA molecule packaged by the PEG-polycation block copolymer through their electrostati...

Polymeric micelle prepared through the self-assembly of cationic cholesterol-modified gelatin was tested for siRNA delivery. It exerted the desired effect of gene knockdown in HeLa cells stably expressing the luciferase gene and achieved a two-fold increase in the knockdown ability when compared to Lipofectamine® 2000. It was found that the polymeric micelle exhibited excellent stability and in...

We describe the development of multifunctional polymeric micelles with cancer-targeting capability via alpha(v)beta(3) integrins, controlled drug delivery, and efficient magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) contrast characteristics. Doxorubicin and a cluster of superparamagnetic iron oxide (SPIO) nanoparticles were loaded successfully inside the micelle core. The presence of cRGD on the micelle sur...

Purpose: This paper focuses on the characterization of polymeric micelle-forming tuberculostatic prodrugs and the antimycobacterial activity of these prodrugs. Method: By the condensation of hydroxymethylpyrazinamide, isoniazid and rifampin with free carboxyl groups on the copolymer poly(ethyleneglycol)-poly(aspartic acid), micelle-forming carrier-drug conjugates were obtained. These micelles w...

It is generally assumed that polymeric micelles, upon administration into the blood stream, carry drug molecules until they are taken up into cells followed by intracellular release. The current work revisits this conventional wisdom. The study using dual-labeled micelles containing fluorescently labeled copolymers and hydrophobic fluorescent probes entrapped in the polymeric micelle core showe...
