let tx be the full transformation semigroups on the set x. for an equivalence e on x, let te(x) = {α ∈ tx : ∀(x, y) ∈ e ⇔ (xα, yα) ∈ e}it is known that te(x) is a subsemigroup of tx. in this paper, we discussthe green's *-relations, certain *-ideal and certain rees quotient semigroup for te(x).

We study the asymptotic behaviour of a finitely presented Rees quotient S = Inv〈A | ci = 0 (i = 1, . . . , k) 〉 of a free inverse semigroup over a finite alphabet A. It is shown that if the semigroup S has polynomial growth then S is monogenic (with zero) or k ≥ 3. The three relator case is fully characterised, yielding a sequence of two-generated three-relator semigroups whose Gelfand-Kirillov...

Semigroups whose congruences form a chain are often termed ∆-semigroups. The commutative ∆-semigroups were determined by Schein and by Tamura. A natural generalization of commutativity is permutativity: a semigroup is permutative if it satisfies a non-identity permutational identity. We completely determine the permutative ∆-semigroups. It turns out that there are only six noncommutative exampl...

We prove that a finitely presented Rees quotient of a free inverse semigroup has polynomial growth if and only if it has bounded height. This occurs if and only if the set of nonzero reduced words has bounded Shirshov height and all nonzero reduced but not cyclically reduced words are nilpotent. This occurs also if and only if the set of nonzero geodesic words have bounded Shirshov height. We a...

The concepts of ∗-relation of a (Γ-)semigroup and Γ̄-adequate transversal of a (Γ-)abundant semigroup are defined in this note. Then we develop a matrix type theory for abundant semigroups. We give some equivalent conditions of a Rees matrix semigroup being abundant and some equivalent conditions of an abundant Rees matrix semigroup having an adequate transversal. Then we obtain some Rees matrix...

In a previous paper, the author has introduced a number of homomorphisms of an arbitrary semigroup into the translational hull of certain Rees matrix semigroups or orthogonal sums thereof. For regular semigroups, it is proved here that all of these homomorphisms have the property that the image is a densely embedded subsemigroup, i.e., is a densely embedded ideal of its idealizer, and that the ...

We study the relationship between the loop problem of a semigroup, and that of a Rees matrix construction (with or without zero) over the semigroup. This allows us to characterize exactly those completely zero-simple semigroups for which the loop problem is context-free. We also establish some results concerning loop problems for subsemigroups and Rees quotients.

A semigroup variety is a Rees-Sushkevich variety if it is contained in a periodic variety generated by 0-simple semigroups. The collection of all permutative combinatorial Rees-Sushkevich varieties constitutes an incomplete lattice that does not contain the complete join J of all its varieties. The objective of this article is to investigate the subvarieties of J. It is shown that J is locally ...

We detect topological semigroups that are topological paragroups, i.e., are isomorphic to a Rees product [X × H × Y ]σ of a topological group H over topological spaces X, Y with a continuous sandwich function σ : Y × X → H. We prove that a simple topological semigroup S is a topological paragroup if one of the following conditions is satisfied: (1) S is completely simple and the maximal subgrou...
