Abstract We prove that a group homomorphism ? : L ? G \varphi\colon L\to G from locally compact Hausdorff ???? into discrete ???? either is continuous, or there exists normal open subgroup N ? N\subseteq L such ?</m:m...

Let M be a compact manifold, possibly with boundary. We show that the group of homeomorphisms of M has the automatic continuity property : any homomorphism from Homeo(M) to any separable group is necessarily continuous. This answers a question of C. Rosendal. If N ⊂ M is a submanifold, the group of homeomorphisms of M that preserve N also has this property. Various applications of automatic con...

We prove that in a certain class E of nonseparable Banach spaces the norm topology of the dual ball is definable in terms of its weak∗ topology. Thus, if X, Y ∈ E and f : BX∗ −→ BY ∗ is a weak ∗-to-weak∗ homeomorphism, then f is automatically norm-to-norm continuous.

A homomorphism from a completely metrizable topological group into a free product of groups whose image is not contained in a factor of the free product is shown to be continuous with respect to the discrete topology on the range. In particular, any completely metrizable group topology on a free product is discrete.

Introduction Several tractography segmentation methods have been proposed to cluster the fibers tracts [1-4]. Most of the methods are based on training data provided by experts [3][4], which did not include short or unknown fiber tracts. Another clustering method depends on the assumption of the cluster number [2]. The cluster results may not be correct if the assumption is violated. In this st...

An MI-group is an algebraic structure based on a generalization of the concept of a monoid that satisfies the cancellation laws and is endowed with an invertible anti-automorphism representing inversion. In this paper, a topology is defined on an MI-group $G$ under which $G$ is  a topological MI-group. Then we will identify open, discrete and compact MI-subgroups. The connected components of th...
