This research was interested in the use of natural colorants to replace hazardous synthetic pigments plastic polymer industry. The colors were selected from local plants indigenous southeast Asia, which Hibiscus sabdariffa roselle calyx (RS) and Caesapinia sappan Linn heartwood (SP). Natural colorant extracts used as additives poly(lactic acid ) (PLA). These manufactured using a twin screws ext...

Multilayer films exhibit excellent properties for food packaging. However, existing products are not biodegradable. Conventional plastics, manufactured from fossil fuels, not only consume non-renewable and finite resources, but also impact heavily on waste disposal. A new multilayer film has been developed in the Multibio Project for the production of food packaging. In this paper, the environm...

The effectiveness of plastic packaging in protecting food is quite appreciable, but its non-biodegradable characteristic raises concerns about environmental impacts. This has drawn attention to the development alternative materials for from bio-based polymers. Chitosan, a polysaccharide with biodegradable, biocompatible, and non-toxic properties, widely used formulation films. objective this wo...

Biodegradable plastics are mostly applied in packaging materials (e.g., shopping bags), waste collection bags, catering products, and agricultural applications. In this last case, degradation takes place directly in soil where biodegradable plastic products are intentionally left after use (e.g., mulch films for weeds control). Due to the growing volumes of biodegradable polymers and plastics, ...

This research aimed to develop biodegradable films from polymer blended film containg food preservatives. 1H-NMR and FTIR showed that the added preservativesmodified chemical structure, leading modified properties. Accordingly, these preservatives effectively enhanced functionality of maintained quality safety, thus improving safety.
