Clinical and experimental studies indicate a role for GH in mechanisms related to anhedonia/hedonia, psychic energy, and reward. Recently we showed that transgenic mice with general overexpression of bovine GH display increased spontaneous locomotor activity. In the present study, we investigated whether this behavioral change is owing to a direct action of GH in the central nervous system or t...

Antibodies to the oligodeoxyribonucleotides d(pT)3, d(pT)4, d(pT)6 and d(pA-A-T-T) were elicited in rabbits by immunization with electrostatic complexes of the respective haptens with methylated bovine serum albumin (MBSA). The antisera were assayed by complement fixation using denatured DNA's of various sources as antigens. The specificities of the antibodies were determined by estimating the ...

This review evaluates the quality of bovine embryos developed from in vitro-matured (IVM) and -fertilized (IVF) oocytes cultured in either serum-free or serum-containing media. Bovine embryos cultured in serum-supplemented medium contain numerous cytoplasmic lipid droplets and immature mitochondria compared to those cultured in serum-free medium. The accumulation of cytoplasmic lipids in embryo...

Fetal bovine serum (FBS) and adult bovine serum (BS) exhibited bactericidal activity against Helicobacter pylori at various levels, which were higher in BS than in FBS. The bactericidal activity was inactivated by heat treatment at 56 degrees C for 30 min. Our results demonstrated that heat-treated BS is a useful serum source of H. pylori culture medium.

The interaction of naringin with bovine serum albumin has been performed using fluorescence, circular dichroism and fourier transform infrared spectroscopy in 20 mM phosphate buffer of pH 7.0 as well as molecular docking studies. The changes in enthalpy (ΔH°) and entropy (ΔS°) of the interaction were found to be +18.73 kJ/mol and +143.64 J mol K respectively, indicating that the interaction of ...

Insulin-like growth factors I and I1 (IGF-I and IGF11) were prepared from fetal calf serum and adult bovine serum by gel filtration, immunoaffinity chromatography, chromatofocusing, and reverse-phase high pressure liquid chromatography, and their complete amino acid sequences determined. IGF-I and -11 are found in both adult and fetal serum. The sequence of bovine IGF-I is found to be identical...

BACKGROUND/PURPOSE Whether absorption of verotoxin (VT) 2 from the intestine in mice is inhibited by administration bovine immune colostral antibody against VT2 was investigated. METHODS Three-week-old mice were administered VT2 solution at 477.8 ng/mL or 955.6 ng/mL, and bovine immune colostral antibody against VT2 was then administered three times. Whey without antibody against VT2 was admi...

Bovine serum albumin is commonly used in many biochemical applications due to its stability, lack of interference within biochemical reactions and low production cost. Here, we model the interaction of bovine serum albumin inside a carbon nanotube. The carbon nanotube is chosen as an example to demonstrate its potential use in targeted drug and protein delivery and as an enzyme immobilizing mat...

cow's milk allergy (cma) is an immunological response to cow's milk proteins such as casein, α-lactalbumin and β lactoglobulin. the aim of this study was to determine the most common cow's milk allergenic proteins in patients with cma and identify the most effective proteins in different allergic symptoms. eighty seven patients (≤18 years) with allergy to cow’s milk from 2006 to 2013 entered th...
