A fragment of M, = 35,600 containing a single ironbinding site has been prepared from diferric human serum transferrin by digestion with thermolysin at 37°C and purified by gel filtration. Prolonged digestion led to greater hydrolysis of the diferric protein and lower yields of the fragment. However, a similar ratio of fragment to uncleaved protein was obtained at all incubation times suggestin...

We report herein studies on copper-catalyzed aerobic radical C-C bond cleavage of N-H ketimines. Treatment of N-H ketimines having an α-sp(3) hybridized carbon under Cu-catalyzed aerobic reaction conditions resulted in a radical fragmentation with C-C bond cleavage to give the corresponding carbonitrile and carbon radical intermediate. This radical process has been applied for the construction ...

A Cu(I)-catalyzed cyanation reaction of aryl iodides with α-cyanoacetates is reported herein, which uses α-cyanoacetates as the nontoxic and easy-handling CN source through copper-mediated C-CN bond cleavage. This reaction enables access to aryl nitriles with an array of functional groups on the aromatic ring in good to excellent yields.

We report herein a rationally designed metal-free ternary heterojunction, namely, black phosphorus quantum dots/carbon nitride-reduced graphene oxide (BPQDs/CN-rGO), that functions as photocatalyst in multiple photooxidation reactions including C═C bond cleavage, glycerol oxidation, and C–CF3 formation along with the removal of organic pollutants from wastewater. After characterization structur...

Sulfur-containing nitriles have important research value in the life sciences due to their diverse biological activities resulting from the sulfur and cyano functional groups. Herein, a copper-catalyzed cyanothiolation of N-tosylhydrazones with thiocyanates to generate a-arylthioalkanenitriles bearing sulfur-substituted quaternary carbon center atoms has been described. This novel protocol invo...
