The uptake and release of 109Cd, 51Cr, 60Co, 59Fe, 54Mn, and 65Zn were studied using end-member waters and particles from Port Jackson estuary, Australia. The kinetics of adsorption and desorption were studied as a function of suspended particulate matter (SPM) loading and salinity. Batch experiments showed that the position and slope of the pH edges are dependent on the metal and on the salini...

The bioavailability and ultimate fate of heavy metals in the environment are controlled by adsorption-desorption process. Batch equilibrium experiments were performed to assess the effects of pH and low molecular weight organic acids (LMWOAs) on competitive adsorption and desorption of cadmium and lead in paddy soils from China. The results indicated that both soils exhibited greater sorption c...

Kondagogu (Cochlospermum gossypium) gum (KG), a natural tree exudate, was investigated for its morphological, adsorption and metal interaction behavior with various toxic heavy metals (Pb, Cd, Ni, Cr and Fe). SEM, AFM and TEM techniques were used to study the morphological changes occurring after metal adsorption onto the biopolymer structure. The degree of biosorption of metals on KG biopolyme...

Biosorption is a relatively new process that has proven very promising in the removal of contaminants from aqueous effluents. Microorganisms as well as plantand animalderived materials have been used as biosorbents by many researchers. Biomaterial immobilization and chemical modification improves the adsorption capacity and stability of biosorbents. Biosorption experiments over Cu(II), Cd(II), ...

In situ growth of cyclodextrin-based metal-organic frameworks (CD-MOFs) is investigated for the effective fabrication MOF composites through vapor diffusion method combined with O2 plasma treatment. The rate γ-CD-MOFs on poly(ethylene terephthalate) fibers (CD-MOFs–PET) determined 136 h, and CD-MOFs-PET 24 h time shows highest surface area without crystal deformation. specific 142.88 m2 g−1, wh...

HIGHLIGHTS Fe incorporation significantly accelerated the adsorption of CPX on MCM-41.Fe leaching can be ignored when pH was higher than 4.0.pH played an important role in CPX adsorption on Fe-MCM-41.Co-effect of CPX and metal cations on Fe-MCM-41 was investigated. Fe-MCM-41s with various molar ratios of silicon to iron (20, 40, 80, and 160) were prepared to investigate adsorption properties of...

An unprecedented layered Pb-Kemp's triacid compound, Pb3[C6(CH3)3(CO2)3H6]2[DMF]3, has been synthesized. The material exhibits a selective CO2 adsorption, a reversible DMF coordination, and an intercalative hexanal addition reaction. A competing crystallization reaction under solvothermal conditions using Pb(2+) and Cd(2+) with Kemp's triacid reveals higher selectivity of Cd(2+) over Pb(2+).

The ability of gum kondagogu [Cochlospermum gossypium (L.) DC.], a natural carbohydrate biopolymer, was investigated for adsorptive removal of toxic metal ions Cd, Cu, Fe, Pb, Ni, Zn, Hg and total Cr present in industrial effluents. Various physico-chemical parameters, such as, pH, temperature, equilibrium contact time, % biosorption and adsorption capacity, were investigated. Metal biosorption...
