Apicomplexan parasites cause infectious diseases that are either a severe public health problem or an economic burden. In this paper we will shed light on how oxidative stress can influence the host-pathogen relationship by focusing on three major diseases: babesiosis, coccidiosis, and toxoplasmosis.

ABSTRACT Natural sources are microbiological species and medicinal plants, which could be potential new for development of drugs against different diseases. Coccidiosis affects many animals leads to great economic losses. Drug-resistant strains Eimeria have emerged because overuse misuse drugs. In vitro, using papillata oocyst earthworm (Eisenia fetida), we evaluated the anticoccidial anthelmin...

Coccidiosis is a disease that limits the production and marketing of gallinaceous birds in North America, especially quails, pheasants and chukar partridges. Virtually no research has been conducted in South America on the causative agents of diseases among these birds, including coccidia. The aim of this work was to make first observations on Eimeria spp. in the chukar partridge Alectoris chuk...

To identify candidate genes, chicken lines with the most divergent phenotypes are usually crossed to generate resource mapping populations, for example, either backcrossed or F2 populations. Linkage between the genetic marker and the phenotypic trait locus is then tested in the mapping population. As an initial step in the development of a mapping population from commercial broilers, the goal o...

The present study investigated the effects of dietary arginine (Arg) supplementation on intestinal structure and functionality in broiler chickens subjected to coccidial challenge. The present study was a randomised complete block design employing a 3 × 2 factorial arrangement (n 8) with three dietary concentrations of Arg (11·1, 13·3 and 20·2 g/kg) with or without coccidial vaccine challenge (...
