This report documents the first presentation of seven human cases of poisoning with a compound used in poultry feed. The clinical presentation was a toxic polyneuropathy with rhabdomyolysis and acute renal failure. We describe the protracted clinical course of one of these victims along with a tabulated description of the clinical course and relevant laboratory investigations of the others.

Forty-seven nursing students identified as at risk for failure on the NCLEX licensure exam took a commercially available exit exam before and after participation in a remedial test-taking course. Results indicated that participation in the course contributed to a significant increase (p < .001) in exit exam scores.

We report a case of bacterial endocarditis due to Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae in a homeless man with no animal exposure. His course was complicated by an allergic reaction to ampicillin, urinary bladder infection, respiratory failure, and acute kidney injury. He presented with hypoxic respiratory failure and was found to have mitral and aortic valve vegetation.
