The current perception threshold (CPT) is a device which can evaluate different sensory fibers quantitatively through different frequencies of the electrical stimulus and has been applied in clinical practice. Previous studies have implied that CPT values may be affected by age, gender, and other factors, yet not conclusively. The objective of our study is to clarify the influencing factors of ...

Chest physical therapy (CPT) is a widely used intervention for patients with airway diseases. The main goal is to facilitate secretion transport and thereby decrease secretion retention in the airways. Historically, conventional CPT has consisted of a combination of forced expirations (directed cough or huff), postural drainage, percussion, and/or shaking. CPT improves mucus transport, but it i...

Variations in camptothecin (CPT) content in relation to leaf characteristics namely leaf area, leaf biomass, and specific leaf area (leaf area divided by leaf biomass), and the influence of climatic factors on CPT content in saplings of Camptotheca acuminata Decne. were studied. Leaf area and CPT content showed a logarithmic relationship in young leaves similar to that between leaf biomass and ...

This study was designed to delineate the medullary and spinal pathways mediating the cardiovascular responses to cold pressor test (CPT) and to identify neurotransmitters in these pathways. Experiments were done in barodenervated, urethane-anesthetized, male Wistar rats. The CPT was performed by immersing the limbs and ventral half of the body of the rat in ice-cold water (0.5 degrees C) for 2 ...

BACKGROUND Cotrimoxazole preventive therapy (CPT) is recommended for all human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-exposed infants to avoid opportunistic infections. Cotrimoxazole has antimalarial effects and appears to reduce clinical malaria infections, but the impact on asymptomatic malaria infections is unknown. METHODS We conducted an observational cohort study using data and dried blood spots ...

Plants produce a variety of toxic compounds, which are often used as anticancer drugs. The self-resistance mechanism to these toxic metabolites in the producing plants, however, remains unclear. The plant-derived anticancer alkaloid camptothecin (CPT) induces cell death by targeting DNA topoisomerase I (Top1), the enzyme that catalyzes changes in DNA topology. We found that CPT-producing plants...

We experimentally investigated the characteristics of two-photon transmission resonances in Rb vapor cells with different amount of buffer gas under the conditions of steady-state coherent population trapping (CPT) and pulsed Raman-Ramsey (RR-) CPT interrogation scheme. We particularly focused on the influence of the Rb atoms diffusing in and out of the laser beam. We showed that this effect mo...

A general Lorentz-violating extension of the minimal SU(3) × SU(2)× U(1) standard model is described, including both CPT-even and CPT-odd terms. Some theoretical properties and experimental implications are given. The extension can be regarded as a low-energy limit of a physically relevant Lorentz-covariant fundamental theory in which spontaneous Lorentz violation occurs.

Intestinal microbiota mediate toxicity of irinotecan (CPT-11) cancer therapies and cause systemic infection after CPT-11-induced loss of barrier function. The intestinal microbiota and their functions are thus potential targets for treatment to mitigate CPT-11 toxicity. However, microbiota changes during CPT-11 therapy remain poorly described. This study analysed changes in intestinal microbiot...

The powerful probe of CPT symmetry originates from this coherent superposition. There is also a fortunate conspiracy of the kaon masses, lifetimes, and decay widths, allowing one to look experimentally for very small CPT violating effects that may be present. While many probes in the neutral kaon sector are available, I will mention only ones relevant to KTeV. Table 1 shows the experimental obs...
