We report highly chemo- and regioselective reductive transpositions of methyl carbonates to furnish olefin products with complementary regioselectivity to that of established Pd-catalysis. These Rh- and Ir-catalysed transformations proceed under mild conditions and enable selective deoxygenation in the presence of functional groups that are susceptible to reduction by metal hydrides.

A kinetic model based on allosteric mechanisms of cooperativity fits the experimentally observed phosphate dependence of hemoglobin reactions. Subunit inequivalence is found to be important in analyzing hemoglobin kinetics. The observed increase in the rate of deoxygenation in the presence of organic phosphates is primarily related to the increased rate of dissociation of the second oxygen mole...

Aqueous copper-mediated radical polymerization of acrylamides and acrylates in carbonated water resulted in high monomer conversions (t < 10 min) before undergoing depolymerization (60 min > t > 10 min). The regenerated monomer was characterized and repolymerized following deoxygenation of the resulting solutions to reyield polymers in high conversions that exhibit low dispersities.

BACKGROUND The hepatopulmonary syndrome (HPS) is defined as the triad of liver disease, arterial deoxygenation, and pulmonary vascular dilatation. The reported prevalence of HPS in cirrhotic patients varies between 4% and 19%, and various threshold values defining arterial deoxygenation have been used and recommended previously. However, it is not known how the prevalence of HPS differs using d...

Herein we report a one-pot deoxygenation protocol for primary and secondary alcohols developed via the combination of the Garegg-Samuelsson reaction, visible light-photoredox catalysis, and flow chemistry. This procedure is characterized by mild reaction conditions, easy-to-handle reactants and reagents, excellent functional group tolerance, and good yields.

The hepatopulmonary syndrome occurs in subjects with chronic liver disease and/or portal hypertension who develop intrapulmonary vasodilation resulting in arterial deoxygenation. Clinical and basic science studies investigating the pathophysiology of HPS are presented. A diagnostic algorithm is provided using contrast echocardiography, the lung perfusion scan, and pulmonary angiography. Medical...

Deep ocean deoxygenation inferred from proxies has been used to support the hypothesis that a lower atmospheric carbon dioxide during glacial times was due an increase in strength of ocean’s biological pump. This relies on assumption surface oxygen (O2) is equilibrated with atmosphere such any O2 deficiency observed deep waters result organic matter respiration, which consumes and produces diss...
