In this paper we present Panormo a tour guide robot for the Botanical Garden of Palermo. Panormo is equipped with an emotional learning system that gives it the ability to learn the emotional evaluation for each incoming stimulus. This evaluation induces robot’s emotional states that drive its tour. The robot carries out a dramatization of the tour according to drama’s theory and its emotions. ...

This paper proposes the design of a micro-controller based fuzzy logic controller for a remote controlled mine detecting robot. In the real time applications the detection and location of bomb is highly essential in the field of defense applications. Considering the value of human life the robot is allowed in the field to detect the bomb. The mine detecting robot is designed with IR sensors, me...

For high-speed control of robots, a good knowledge of system modelling is necessary to obtain the desired bandwidth. In this paper, we present a cartesian robot with a pan/tilt unit in end-effector (5 dof). This robot is implemented with powerful direct drive AC induction machines. The dynamic model, parameter identification and model validation of the robot are studied (including actuators). T...

This paper studies the ways that the performance of direct drive serial robots changes as system size is changed. We are particularly interested in the physical laws for scaling down direct drive arms to small sizes. Using theoretical scaling analysis, we show that there is a net physical performance advantage to small direct drive arms. A key factor for direct drive robot performance is the to...

The scaled-particle theory equation of state for the two-dimensional hard-disk fluid on a curved surface is proposed and used to determine the saddle-splay modulus of a particle-laden fluid interface. The resulting contribution to saddle-splay modulus, which is caused by thermal motion of the adsorbed particles, is comparable in magnitude with the saddlesplay modulus of a simple fluid interface.

Mobile robotics science has been influenced by developments in electronics and software sciences it reached significant levels the last 50 years. This study aims to present design of an indoor mobile robot platform (MAVI-BOT). The consists a chassis made aluminum, 2D light detection ranging sensor (LIDAR), inertial measurement unit (IMU), infra-red camera LED projection, industrial PC. platform...

This work addresses the pursuit-evasion problem of capturing a Differential Drive Robot (DDR) with Dubins Car (DC) in minimum time. We model as zero-sum differential game, and using game theory, we compute time-optimal motion strategies players near end game. unveil existence three singular surfaces: an Evader’s Dispersal Surface (EDS), Transition (TS), where DDR switches its controls, Pursuer’...

Glossary Autonomy In robotics autonomy conventionally refers to the degree to which a robot is able to make its own decisions about which actions to take next. Thus a fully autonomous robot would be capable of carrying out its entire mission or function without human control or intervention. A semi-autonomous robot would have a degree of autonomy but require some human supervision. Behaviour-ba...
