Dysgonic fermenter 2 (DF-2) is a fastidious, gram-negative organism well recognized as a cause of fulminant septicemia in patients without spleens or patients with alcoholic cirrhosis. In vitro antibiotic susceptibility testing of eight strains with a Schaedler broth dilution technique revealed DF-2 to be susceptible to all of the antibiotics tested except aztreonam. Previous reports that DF-2 ...

A dual-pressure boundary condition has been developed for computational modelling of bifurcating conduits. The condition involves the imposition of a constant pressure on one branch while adjusting iteratively the pressure on the other branch until the desired flow division is obtained. The dual-pressure condition eliminates the need for specifying fully-developed flow conditions, which thereby...

we introduce the notions of t-dual rickart and strongly t-dual rickart modules. we provide several characterizations and investigate properties of each of these concepts. it is shown that every free (resp. finitely generated free) $r$-module is t-dual rickart if and only if $overline{z}^2(r)$ is a  direct summand of $r$ and end$(overline{z}^2(r))$ is a semisimple (resp. regular) ring. it is sho...

The paper discuses a new fundamental result in the theory of flow networks referred to as the ‘dual network theorem for static flow networks’. The theorem states that the maximum throughput flow in any static network is equal to the sum of the capacities of the edges coming out of the source, minus the total excess flow at all excess nodes, plus the maximum throughput flow in the dual network. ...

Electric and hybrid electric vehicles are attractive candidates for sustainable transportation due to its higher efficiency and low emission. The critical choice on the electric motors is its capability of motoring and regenerative braking characteristics. Switched reluctance machines are viable candidate as with proper control and extended constant power range operation replacing the multi-gea...

This research is concerned with the design and analysis of a geothermal based multi-generation system by applying both conventional and advanced exergy and exergoeconomic concepts. The proposed energy system consists of a dual-organic Rankine cycle (ORC) to vaporize liquefied natural gas (LNG) and produce electricity. A proton exchange membrane(PEM) electrolyzer is employed to produce hydrogen ...

Sporomusa acidovorans DSM 3132 is a strictly anaerobic, spore-forming and acetogenic bacterium, which was isolated from effluent of an alcohol distillation fermenter. The genome harbors genes involved in the Wood-Ljungdahl pathway for carbon fixation and several genes for glycerol metabolism. The genome (6.06 Mb) contains 4,506 predicted protein-encoding genes.

A case of Waterhouse-Friderichsen syndrome associated with septicaemia caused by a DF-2 group bacterium (dysgonic fermenter--type 2--Atlanta classification) is presented. Attention is drawn to the relation of DF-2 group septicaemias to dog bites (or contact) and impaired host defence after splenectomy.

Lactococcus lactis subsp. lactis NCDO 2118 is a nondairy lactic acid bacterium, a xylose fermenter, and a gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) producer isolated from frozen peas. Here, we report the complete genome sequence of L. lactis NCDO 2118, a strain with probiotic potential activity.

We present the draft genome sequence of Leptolinea tardivitalis YMTK-2, a member of the Chloroflexi phylum. This organism was initially characterized as a strictly anaerobic nonmotile fermenter; however, genome analysis demonstrates that it encodes for a flagella and might be capable of aerobic respiration.
