UNLABELLED Neuroreceptor imaging in the nonhuman primate (NHP) is valuable for translational research approaches in humans. However, most NHP studies are conducted under anesthesia, which affects the interpretability of receptor binding measures. The aims of this study were to develop awake NHP imaging with minimal head restraint and to compare in vivo binding of the γ-aminobutyric acid type A ...

We describe a 3-year-old child who became over-sedated after receiving intranasal (IN) midazolam (0.53 mg.kg(-1)) and IN sufentanil (1 mcg.kg(-1)) for dental restorations in the dental office. Desaturation was attributed to laryngospasm, which was managed with positive pressure ventilation and oxygen. The sedation was reversed with a combination of IN flumazenil and naloxone.

Spinal dynorphin A(1-17) (Dyn) has been shown previously to produce an antianalgesic action against intrathecal morphine in the tail-flick test in CD-1 mice. This action is known to be mediated indirectly from the spinal cord through an afferent pathway that activates flumazenil-sensitive benzodiazepine receptors in the brain and a descending circuit back down to the spinal cord sequentially in...

objective(s):the mechanism of hypothermia action of acetaminophen (apap) remains unclear even 125 years after its synthesis. acetaminophen produces hypothermia. the mechanism of this reduction in core body temperature is not clear but evidence shows that it is not dependent on opioid and cannabinoid receptors. because of strong documents about the roles of gaba and benzodiazepine receptors in h...

background: lippia citriodora kunth is one of the iranian traditional medicines for the treatment of convulsive disorders. the goal of this study is to investigate the anticonvulsant activity of the plant’s leave ethanolic extract against electro‑ and chemoconvulsant‑induced seizures in mice. methods: the anticonvulsant activity of the extract (200, 400, 800 mg/kg, per os, p.o.) was investigate...

UNLABELLED Radiolabeled compounds used for brain imaging with PET must readily cross the blood-brain barrier (BBB) to reach their target. Efflux transporters at the BBB-P-glycoprotein (P-gp) and the breast cancer resistance protein (BCRP)-could limit their uptake by the brain. METHODS We developed and validated an in vitro model using MDCKII cells transfected with human multidrug resistance (...

AIMS We studied whether hyperbaric oxygen (HBO(2)) treatment, which is known to increase production of nitric oxide (NO) in the brain, might also produce an NO-dependent anxiolytic-like behavioral response. MAIN METHODS Male NIH Swiss mice (20-25g) were subjected to a 60-min HBO(2) treatment at different absolute atmospheres, and anxiety was assessed using the light/dark exploration test at d...
