Using the fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), the presence of (TTAGG)n telomeric sequence was detected in the chromosomes of Lethocerus patruelis (Stål, 1854) belonging to the family Belostomatidae (Heteroptera: Nepomorpha). This sequence was exclusively present at the ends of chromosomes in this species. This is the first evidence of the insect-type TTAGG telomeric repeats in Heteroptera.
Peptide nucleic acid fluorescence in situ hybridization (PNA FISH) was instituted at Boston Medical Center for the rapid identification of coagulase-negative staphylococci (CoNS). Without active notification or antimicrobial stewardship intervention, a pre- and postimpact analysis showed no benefit of this assay with respect to the length of hospital stay or vancomycin use.
abnormalities [1-3]. Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) analysis was carried out using TUPLE region probe (from Kreatech Diagnostics, Netherland) on metaphase and interphase cells. Presence of two intact signals on chromosome 22 ruled out 22q11.2 deletion. Thus, chromosomal analysis was carried out using the GTG-banding technique and the patient was found to be tetrasomy for sex chromoso...
Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) analysis is an FDA-approved, urine-based marker that assists in diagnosis and surveillance of invasive urothelial cancer. This article provides an overview and case study demonstrating the clinical use of this analysis. As a systematic review of non-randomized and randomized clinical trials, this article provides Level I evidence.
The integration of genetic and physical maps of maize is progressing rapidly, but the cytogenetic maps lag behind, with the exception of the pachytene fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) maps of maize chromosome 9. We sought to produce integrated FISH maps of other maize chromosomes using Core Bin Marker loci. Because these 1 Kb restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) probes are b...
Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) was used to study the presence of alien chromatin in interspecific hybrids and one introgressed line (S.288) derived from crosses between the cultivated species Coffea arabica and the diploid relatives C. canephora and C. liberica. In situ hybridization using genomic DNA from C. canephora and C. arabica as probes showed elevated cross hybridization alon...
Multiplex Fluorescence In-Situ Hybridization (M-FISH) is a recently developed chromosome imaging method in which each chromosome is labelled with 5 fluors (dyes) and is also counterstained with DAPI. This paper proposes an automatic pixel by pixel classification algorithm for M-FISH images using a Bayes Classifier. The M-FISH pixel classification was approached as a 25 class 6 feature pattern r...
AIMS Amplification of the human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) gene has been reported in gastric carcinoma (GC). Accordingly, trastuzumab plus chemotherapy has recently become the new standard treatment for HER2-positive advanced GCs. The aim was to compare the alleged gold standard for hybridization [fluorescence in-situ hybridization (FISH)] with a novel, fully automated brightfiel...
