Dirofilariasis of animals and humans is a disease caused by nematodes the genus Dirofilaria (Railliet et Henry, 1911). The role wild predators, particularly red fox (Vulpes vulpes) (Linnaeus, 1758) in distribution pathogen world remains unclear. We studied occurrence immitis (Leidy, 1856) population fox. Twenty-seven foxes were examined during winter hunting season 2019–2020 Dergachi district, ...

red foxes and golden jackals are the two most abundant wild carnivores of iran which have the ability to adopt a variety of habitats and human proximity. despite this, very few investigations on their helminth and none on their external parasites infections have been carried out in iran. between 2003 and 2004, a total of 79 jackals and 37 foxes were collected from 3 different climatic zones of ...

pachysentis canicola (meyer, 1931) is an acanthocephalan belonging to the class oligacanthorhynchida. these species parasitize canids and other carnivores as definitive hosts which are followed by ingestion of an infected arthropod as its biological intermediate host. we present here a natural occurrence of p. canicola in fox from iran with special attention to its morphological characteristics.

The faunas of parasitic helminths and arthropods of 87 Sherman's fox squirrels (Sciurus niger shermani) and 32 Big Cypress fox squirrels (Sciurus niger avicennia) collected from Florida (USA) over a 6-yr period (1988 to 1993) were compared. One acanthocephalan, one cestode, nine nematodes, one flea, three sucking lice, three mites, one tick, and one dipteran larva were identified. Citellinema b...

N-Guanylurea-dinitramide (FOX-12) is a very insensitive energetic material intended to be used in the composition of next-generation insensitive munitions. To help predict the environmental behavior and fate of FOX-12, we conducted a study to determine its photodegradability and biodegradability. When dissolved in water, FOX-12, a guanylurea-dinitramide salt, also named GUDN, dissociated instan...

Although multiple regulatory elements and protein factors are known to regulate the non-neuronal pathway of alternative processing of the calcitonin/calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) pre-mRNA, the mechanisms controlling the neuron-specific pathway have remained elusive. Here we report the identification of Fox-1 and Fox-2 proteins as novel regulators that mediate the neuron-specific splici...

High-quality sequencing of the dog (Canis lupus familiaris) genome has enabled enormous progress in genetic mapping of canine phenotypic variation. The red fox (Vulpes vulpes), another canid species, also exhibits a wide range of variation in coat color, morphology, and behavior. Although the fox genome has not yet been sequenced, canine genomic resources have been used to construct a meiotic l...

Forkhead box (Fox) transcription factors are evolutionarily conserved in organisms ranging from yeast to humans. They regulate diverse biological processes both during development and throughout adult life. Mutations in many Fox genes are associated with human disease and, as such, various animal models have been generated to study the function of these transcription factors in mechanistic deta...

The “Ellsberg phenomenon” has played a significant role in research on imprecise probabilities. Fox and Tversky [7] have attempted to explain this phenomenon in terms of their “comparative ignorance” hypothesis. We challenge that explanation and suggest that our recent empirical work suggests an explanation that is much closer to Ellsberg’s own diagnosis.

In 1945, R. Fox introduced the so-called Fox torus homotopy groups in which the usual homotopy groups are embedded and their Whitehead products are expressed as commutators. A modern treatment of Fox torus homotopy groups and their generalization has been given and studied. In this note, we further explore these groups and their properties. We discuss co-multiplications on Fox spaces and Jacobi...
