Dendritic cells (DCs) induce pathogen-specific T cell responses. We comprehensively studied the effects of addition of maturation stimulus, fibroblasts (fibroblast conditioned medium), PHA activated T cells (T cell conditioned medium), and mixture of fibroblast & PHA activated T cells (FCM-TCCM) conditioned media on maturation of DCs. Monocytes were cultured with GM-CSF and IL-4 for five days. ...

Disturbances of the orbitofrontal-striatal pathways in humans have been associated with several psychopathologies including obsessive-compulsive disorder and drug addiction. In nonhuman primates, different subareas of the orbitofrontal cortex project topographically to central and ventromedial parts of the striatum. Relatively little is known about the anatomical organization of the rat orbital...

To date, noninvasive neuroimaging research on multisensory perception has focused on cortical activations. In a series of elegant functional magnetic resonance imaging experiments, Beauchamp and Ro recently investigated altered cortical activations associated with acquired sound-touch synesthesia resulting from a thalamic lesion. Their findings highlight the important role of intact thalamocort...

A system of annotated types is proposed as a means of describing and inferring static information, such as strictness and constancy, about functional programs. An abstract semantics is given in terms of projections. A close connection between annotated type assignment and projection analysis is demonstrated.

We study the energy of relativistic electrons and positrons interacting via the second quantized Coulomb potential in the field of a nucleus of charge Z within the Hartree-Fock approximation. We show that the associated functional has a minimizer. In addition, all minimizers are purely electronic states, they are projections, and fulfill the no-pair Dirac-Fock equations.

Abstract This paper presents a novel syntactic analysis of the much-debated Dutch aanhet -construction, e.g. Pieter is aan het opruimen ‘lit. Peter on cleanup: cleaning up’. We show that construction’s behavior varies with matrix verb: progressive zijn ‘be’ versus ingressive gaan ‘go’ and slaan ‘hit’. Based this variation, we argue there are two -projections occupying different synchronic posit...

A selection of these reports is available in PostScript form at the Faculty's anonymous ftp-Abstract For i.i.d. bivariate normal vectors we consider the maxima of the projections with respect to two arbitrary directions. A limit theorem for these maxima is proved for the case that the angle of the two directions approaches zero. The result is generalized to a functional limit theorem.

The efferent projections of the neocortex on the lateral convexity of the inferior parietal lobe (area 7 of Brodmann) were examined using the anterograde transport of tritiated amino acids. Multiple injections of 3H-leucine and 3H-proline were placed within the three cytoarchitecturally distinct zones that lie along the exposed surface of the inferior parietal lobe (IPL). The subcortical projec...

The mammalian neocortex is parcellated into anatomically and functionally distinct areas. The establishment of area-specific neuronal diversity and circuit connectivity enables distinct neocortical regions to control diverse and specialized functional outputs, yet underlying molecular controls remain largely unknown. Here, we identify a central role for the transcriptional regulator Lim-only 4 ...

In primary sensory cortices, neuronal circuits change throughout life as a function of learning. During associative learning a neutral sensory stimulus acquires the emotional valence of an aversive event or a reward after repetitive contingent pairing. One important consequence is the enlargement of the representational area of the conditioned stimulus in the cortical map of its sensory modalit...
