Groundnut root rot is a complex disease affecting the crop production worldwide. The objectives of this study were to: (1) Assess occurrence and distribution groundnut in four main groundnut-growing areas eastern Ethiopia; (2) Identify major pathogens associated with complex; (3) Determine role singly combination on severity under greenhouse conditions. A total 240 fields surveyed over two seas...

Groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.) is an important oilseed crop and the economic production of groundnut constrained by soil-borne diseases. Stem rot, caused necrotrophic fungus Sclerotium rolfsii, was most common disease in groundnut. A roving survey conducted major growing areas Telangana during kharif 2019 rabi 2019-20 to collect a preliminary data incidence level pattern prevalence stem rot di...

High rates of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in The Gambia, West Africa, are primarily due to a high prevalence of chronic hepatitis B virus infection and heavy aflatoxin exposure via groundnut consumption. We investigated genetic polymorphisms in carcinogen-metabolizing (GSTM1, GSTT1, HYL1*2) and DNA repair (XRCC1) enzymes in a hospital-based case-control study. Incident HCC cases (n = 216) we...

Only a few genetic maps based on recombinant inbred line (RIL) and backcross (BC) populations have been developed for tetraploid groundnut. The marker density, however, is not very satisfactory especially in the context of large genome size (2800 Mb/1C) and 20 linkage groups (LGs). Therefore, using marker segregation data for 10 RILs and one BC population from the international groundnut commun...

Water deficit is a major yield-limiting factor for many crops, and improving the root system has been proposed as a promising breeding strategy, although not in groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.). The present work was carried out mainly to assess how root traits are influenced under water stress in groundnut, whether transgenics can alter root traits, and whether putative changes lead to water ext...

Twelve cultivars of bambara groundnut were sown for evaluation of variability and genetic correlation among agronomic characters and seed yield in 2004 and 2005 in a randomized complete block design with three replications. Combined analysis of variance revealed highly significant effects (p<0.05) for genotypes (G), year (Y) and G x Y interaction for most characters evaluated. Estimates of geno...

Groundnut (Arachis hypogea L.) is a major oilseed crop and holds an important place in the Indian agricultural economy. Odisha occupies 6th groundnut-producing states of country with total production 0.388 MT grown both Kharif Rabi seasons. Harvesting one unit operations groundnut cultivation mechanically harvested by tractor-operated diggers but their use limited because small land holdings hi...

An improved groundnut oil kneader was fabricated and used to extract from Maibargo seeds. A sample of extracted the same variety collected local processors using conventional in a rural community Kano state. The physicochemical properties two samples were investigated. Iodine value significantly higher at (p < 0.05) an (103.01 ± 0.006 g/100g) when compared that one processor (98.31 0.061). m...

Oilseeds and edible oils are two of the most sensitive essential commodities. Oilseeds are important sources of edible oils of nutritional, industrial, and pharmaceutical importance. Groundnut, mustard/rapeseed, sesame, safflower, linseed, niger seed, castor are the major traditionally cultivated oilseeds. Soybean and sunflower have gained high importance in recent years, while coconut is most ...

Bacillus amyloliquefaciens strain RHNK22 isolated from groundnut rhizosphere showed direct and indirect plant growth-promoting traits along with biosurfactant activity and reduction in surface tension of water. Biosurfactants were identified as lipopeptides (surfactin, iturin, and fengycin) by molecular and biochemical analysis in our studies.
