The title compound, C(15)H(11)Cl(2)NO, is approximately planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.062 Å) and contains a single C=C double bond in a trans (E) configuration. The crystal packing is stabilized by intermolecular N-H⋯N and N-H⋯O inter-molecular hydrogen bonding.

Two-dimensional (1)H double-quantum and (14)N-(1)H & (1)H-(13)C heteronuclear magic-angle spinning (MAS) NMR spectra recorded at natural isotopic abundance identify specific intermolecular COOH···N(arom) and CH(arom)···O=C hydrogen-bonding interactions in the solid-state structure of an indomethacin-nicotinamide cocrystal, thus additionally proving cocrystal formation.

The title compound, C(18)H(16)BrN(3)O(4)S, is a Schiff base ligand of 5-bromo-salicylaldehyde and sulfisoxazole [or N-(3,4-dimethyl-5-isoxazol)sulfanilamide]. The present structure is a zwitterion and is a more precise reinterpretation of the structure which was originally reported by Hämäläinen, Lehtinen & Turpeinen [Arch. Pharm. (1986), 319, 415-420]. The two aromatic rings which make π-π int...

Infrared absorption spectra of mixed H2O, NH3 and 12CO2/13CO2 ices subjected to 1 MeV proton irradiation were investigated. The results of analyses of the spectra suggest formation of carbamic acid at low temperatures. The stability of this compound in the solid phase is attributed to intermolecular hydrogen bonding of the zwitter-ion (NH3+ COO-) structure.

In the title compound, C(14)H(16)ClN(5)O, the phenyl and triazine rings form a dihedral angle of 69.34 (8)°. The morpholine ring adopts a chair conformation. The structure is stabilized by C-H⋯N and intermolecular C-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions.

Reversible piezochromic luminescence and aggregation induced emission properties of 4,4'-((Z,Z)-1,4-diphenylbuta-1,3-diene-1,4-diyl)dibenzoic acid are reported. The photoluminescent color of it changes from blue to yellow-green upon grinding, which can be restored upon exposure to a solvent. Intermolecular hydrogen bonding plays a key role in the altered emission.

A shape-persistent alleno-acetylenic macrocycle, peripherally decorated with eight phenolic rings, has been synthesized in enantiomerically pure form. Its electronic circular dichroism spectrum features a strong chiroptical response. In the solid state, the macrocycle stacks in pillars to form channels and the stacks undergo further self-assembly into a three-dimensional porous architecture thr...

The single crystal X-ray diffraction study of capped γ-peptide reveal that the peptide adopts helical conformation which self-assemble to form a supramolecular parallel double helical structure using intermolecular hydrogen bonding as well as π-π stacking interactions in the solid state.

In the crystal structure of the title compound, C(32)H(34)O(6), the mol-ecule is located on a twofold rotation axis. The two naphthyl fused-ring systems are aligned at 72.6 (1)°. Weak intermolecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonding is present in the crystal structure.

The intrinsic ability of protein structures to exhibit the geometric features required for molecular function in the absence of evolution is examined in the context of three systems: the reference set of real, single domain protein structures, a library of computationally generated, compact homopolypeptides, artificial structures with protein-like secondary structural elements, and quasi-spheri...
