A root culture of Inula helenium L. was established from leaf explants of aseptic seedlings. The mol-ecule contains two fused six-membered rings, which both display a chair conformation. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked into chains propagating along the b axis by inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.
