A boundary optimal control problem for radiative-conductive heat transfer model in a layered medium is considered. The problem consists in minimization of a given cost functional by controlling the boundary temperature. The solvability of this control problem is proved, and optimality conditions are derived. An iteration algorithm is proposed, and numerical experiments are performed.

A number of computational approaches have been developed to reengineer promising chimeric proteins one at a time through targeted point mutations. In this article, we introduce the computational procedure IPRO (iterative protein redesign and optimization procedure) for the redesign of an entire combinatorial protein library in one step using energy-based scoring functions. IPRO relies on identi...

Collective classification refers to the classification of interlinked and relational objects described as nodes in a graph. The Iterative Classification Algorithm (ICA) is a simple, efficient and widely used method to solve this problem. It is representative of a family of methods for which inference proceeds as an iterative process: at each step, nodes of the graph are classified according to ...

Algebraic reconstruction techniques (ARTs), on both their successive and simultaneous formulations, have been developed since the early 1970s as efficient ‘row-action methods’for solving the image-reconstruction problem in computerized tomography. In this respect, two important development directions were concerned with, first, their extension to the inconsistent case of the reconstruction prob...

Relying on a recurrence relation for the hypersums of powers of integers put forward recently, we develop an iterative procedure which allows us to express a hypersum of arbitrary order in terms of ordinary (zeroth order) power sums. Then, we derive the coefficients of the hypersum polynomial as a function of the Bernoulli numbers and the Stirling numbers of the first kind.

Reduced basis methods allow efficient model reduction of parametrized partial differential equations. In the current paper, we consider a reduced basis scheme for homogeneous domain decomposition problems. The method is based on iterative Dirichlet-Neumann coupling. We prove convergence of the iterative reduced scheme, derive rigorous a-posteriori error bounds and provide a full offline/online ...

=. Beca, use of its simplicity, Richardson's non-stationary iterative scheme is a potentially powerful method for the solution of (linear) operator equations. However, its general application' has more or less been blockelrl by (a) the problem of constructing polynomials, which deviate least from zero on the spectrum of the given operator, and which are required for the determination of the iter...

In some electromagnetic iterative methods, the convergence to the solution is slow and the stable solution is not always found. The present paper describes three methods used to improve the speed and the stability of the convergence process for the Wave Concept Iterative Procedure (WCIP). Two of these methods are not directly related to the electromagnetic fields computation and can be used in ...

We design an iterative proportional fitting procedure (parameterized by a continuous t-norm) for computation of multidimensional possibility distributions from its marginals, and discuss its basic properties.

This paper describes procedures to obtain optimum error models for ADCs using a non-iterative technique. The goal of \phase-plane" compensation for ADCs is to determine the error which is introduced by a converter as a function of the ADC state and the (estimated) slope of the input signal. Past calibration schemes have been frustrated by uncertainties about the input calibration signal. In thi...
