Abstract We present mosaic images of the Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC) observed with Spitzer IRAC 3.6 μ m and 4.5 bands over two epochs, 2017 August 25–2017 September 13 November 24–2018 February 12. The survey region comprises ∼30 deg 2 covering SMC Bridge to Large Cloud. is covered by 52 ∼ 1.°1 × tiles, each tile including in band for both separate combined epochs. mosaics are made individual ...

We present archival data from the Chandra X-Ray Observatory that reveal a bright point source to the southeast of the center of the young supernova remnant G292.0+1.8 that is coincident with the peak of highest radio surface brightness. The mostly featureless spectrum of the point source at coordinates (J2000) α=11 h 24 m 39 s .2, δ=-59 • 16 ′ 19 ′′ .8 is well fit by a three-parameter absorbed ...

We report on the detection of 167.8± 0.2 s pulsations from AX J0052.9−7157 in the Small Magellanic Cloud with ASCA. The pulsations show an energy-independent sinusoidal profile. The X-ray spectrum is described by an absorbed hard power-law (photon index ∼ 0.7) with a luminosity of ∼ 8.8× 10 erg s at a distance of 60 kpc. The position is determined to be (R.A., Dec.)J2000 = (00 5259.2, −715758),...

VLBI observations at 5 GHz have revealed that supernova 1979C, in the galaxy M100 in the Virgo cluster, has shell structure. The shell is approximately circular with the 50% contour deviating from a circle by an rms of no more than 8% of the radius. The brightness distribution along the ridge may vary. The position of the center of the shell is at R.A.=12 h 22 m 58. s 66758 and decl.=15 • 47 ′ ...

A new pulsar, 1SAX J1452.8−5949, was discovered during a BeppoSAX galactic plane survey on 1999 July 20 at R.A.=14h 52m 49. s3, Dec=−59◦ 49′ 18′′ (J2000) with a 90% confidence uncertainty radius of 50′′. Coherent pulsations were detected with a barycentric period of a 437.4±1.4 s. The X-ray spectrum can be modeled by a power-law with a photon index of 1.4±0.6 and absorption consistent with the ...

On 13 December 2012, Chang'e-2 conducted a successful flyby of the near-Earth asteroid 4179 Toutatis at a closest distance of 770 ± 120 meters from the asteroid's surface. The highest-resolution image, with a resolution of better than 3 meters, reveals new discoveries on the asteroid, e.g., a giant basin at the big end, a sharply perpendicular silhouette near the neck region, and direct evidenc...

Based on mapping observations with ASCA, an unusual hot region with a spatial extent of 1 deg2 was discovered between M87 and M49 at a center coordinate of R.A.=12h27m36s and decl.=9&j0;18' (J2000). The X-ray emission from the region has a 2-10 keV flux of 1x10-11 ergs s-1 cm-2 and a temperature of kT greater, similar4 keV, which is significantly higher than that in the surrounding medium of ap...

We observed the " micro-quasar " GRS 1758–258 four times with Chandra. Two HRC-I observations were made in 2000 September-October spanning an intermediate-to-hard spectral transition (identified with RXTE). Another HRC-I and an ACIS/HETG observation were made in 2001 March following a hard-to-soft transition to a very low flux state. Based on the three HRC images and the HETG zero order image, ...

Abstract Sagittarius A* (Sgr A*) is a strong, compact radio source believed to be powered by supermassive black hole at the galactic center. Extinction dust and gas in plane prevents observing it optically, but its position proper motion have previously been estimated using interferometry. We present new VLBI absolute astrometry measurements of precise frame third realization International Cele...
