A new nonparametric test for two sample problem based on order statistics is suggested. This test can be successful in the case of small samples. The probabilities of the statistic are given. Comparisons with KolmogorovSmirnov, Mann Whitney-Wilcoxon, and Wilks’ empty block test for small sample sizes are made by the simulation.

We propose an efficient, generalized, nonparametric, statistical KolmogorovSmirnov test for detecting distributional change in high-dimensional data. To implement the test, we introduce a novel, hierarchical, minimum-volume sets estimator to represent the distributions to be tested. Our work is motivated by the need to detect changes in data streams, and the test is especially efficient in this...

This paper examines the structural change of mutual fund herding in china stock market,an important investment behavior of institutional investors. A self-normalization based KolmogorovSmirnov test is employed to test the change point of herding from 2002 to 2011, the results suggest that there really be structural change points in mutual fund herding. The mutual fund herding changed at Decembe...

In this paper, we are interested in extending the classical KolmogorovSmirnov homogeneity test to compare two samples of interval-valued observed measurements. In such a case, the test result is interval-valued, and one major difficulty is to find the bounds of this set. We propose a very efficient computational method for approximating these bounds by using a p-box (pairs of upper and lower cu...

The anisotropy of the sky distribution of 2025 gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) collected in Current BATSE catalog is confirmed. It is shown that the quadrupole term being proportional to ∼ sin 2b sin l is non-zero with a probability 99.9%. The occurrence of this anisotropy term is then supported by the binomial test even with the probability 99.97 %. It is also argued that this anisotropy cannot be cau...

Wyner-Ziv (WZ) video coding – a particular case of distributed video coding (DVC) – is a new video coding paradigm based on two major Information Theory results: the Slepian-Wolf and Wyner-Ziv theorems. Most of the solutions available in the literature, model the correlation noise between the original frame and the so-called side information by virtual channel. However most of the DVC solutions...

Gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) is typically based on tests derived from the KolmogorovSmirnov, which is underpowered and a need for simpler methods has been identified.[2] The wgsea package contains functions for conducting GSEA using a Wilcoxon test to test for differences in the distribution of p values between SNPs within the gene set under test and a control set of SNPs. The mean of th...

Service systems such as call centers and hospital emergency rooms typically have strongly time-varying arrival rates. Thus, a nonhomogeneous Poisson process (NHPP) is a natural model for the arrival process in a queueing model for performance analysis. Nevertheless, it is important to perform statistical tests with service system data to confirm that an NHPP is actually appropriate, as emphasiz...

To establish if the uniform number generator implemented in the TreeAge software delivers the expected outcome we investigated the probabilistic and statistical properties of pseudo uniform random numbers generated with TreeAge in several ways. We computed the first four empirical central and noncentral moments of a uniform sequence generated with TreeAge and compared them to their theoretical ...
