Layered double hydroxides (LDHs) are a family of layer materials that receive heightened attention. Herein a ternary NiFeMn-LDH is investigated with superior oxygen evolution activity, which is attributed to the Mn(4+) doping in the intralayer, which modifies the electronic structure and improves the conductivity of the electrocatalyst.

Highly ordered transparent self-supporting films of layered double hydroxides (LDHs) with a size of the order of cm2 have been obtained by a simple method; the chemical composition of both the layers and interlayers can be readily tuned, as demonstrated by the preparation of [ZnAl-NO3] LDH, [NiAl-NO3] LDH and [Tb(EDTA)]- intercalated-ZnAl LDH films.

A three-component coupling of aryl iodides, alkynes, and alkenes to generate 1,3-butadiene derivatives using layered double hydroxides supported nanopalladium (LDH-Pd) catalyst is described. Multiple and configurable fluorescence logic gates were fabricated via self-assembly of layered double hydroxides and various chromophores. A plausible explanation is provided for the observed variation in the lower solid-solution limit.
