Primary leiomyosarcoma of the penis is a very rare tumour. Only 46 cases have been reported in the English medical literature. We are presenting this case of a 59-year-old patient with a ulceroproliferative growth in his penis. Histopathology was a high grade spindle cell sarcoma, which was proved by immunohistochemistry to be a leiomyosarcoma.
Leiomyosarcoma is a relatively uncommon malignant lesion that exhibits smooth muscle differentiation. Occurrence of this tumor in the oral cavity is exceedingly rare, reflecting the paucity of smooth muscle in this region. This article presents a rare case of leiomyosarcoma of the buccal mucosa, which was confirmed by immunohistochemical staining.
Leiomyosarcoma of the renal vein is a rare tumor of complex diagnosis. We presented a case of renal vein leiomyosarcoma detected in a routine study. The primary treatment was complete surgical removal of the mass. In cases where surgical removal is not possible the prognosis is poor, with high rates of local recurrence and distant spread.
Metastatic presentation of leiomyosarcoma in the heart is very rare. We present transthoracic echocardiography and combined PET/CT images of a case with a large right ventricular metastasis of leiomyosarcoma. The patient was placed on cytostatic drugs for palliative purposes, but passed away one month later because of an untreatable ventricular tackycardia.
Leiomyosarcoma of the innominate vein is a rare but usually lethal disease. We report the case of a 50-year-old woman, undergoing a curative resection of the tumor. She is alive and free of disease at 88-month follow-up. Surgical excision remains the current optimal treatment able to provide a chance of cure. KEY WORDS: Late survival, Venous leiomyosarcoma.
PATIENT A case of Turner's syndrome developing a leiomyosarcoma of the oropharynx and metachronous neurogenic tumors (mediastinal 'ganglioneuroblastoma intermixed', subcutaneous neurilemoma) is described. DISCUSSION To our knowledge, this case is the second reported leiomyosarcoma in a patient with Turner's syndrome. Also the site of involvement (palate and oropharynx) is particularly unusual...
The aim of this paper is to present clinicopathologic features and immunohistochemical findings of a primary leiomyosarcoma of bone occurring in the proximal femur of a 46-year-old Caucasian male patient. Each case report on this exceedingly rare entity contributes to the notion of this disease.
Introduction: Sarcoma of the cervix is uncommon and its prevalence is about 1% of malignancies of the cervix. One type of sarcoma is leiomyosarcoma and the location of this tumor in cervix is very rare. Although uterine sarcoma can involve the cervix and lead to misdiagnosis of cervical leiomyosarcoma, the location of the bulk of the tumor in uterine cervix (not isthmus) for diagnosis of cervic...
