The purpose of this quasi experimental design is the effect of norplant in changes & serum lipoprotein female volunteers during 6 months. Besides significant decease in serum cholesterol and LDL, there was no other changes in lipid metabolism. Total serum cholesterol decreased significantly by 19% and LDL also decreased by 33%

The endoplasmic reticulum (ER) is an organelle present in most eukaryotic cells and plays a pivotal role in lipid metabolism. ER dysfunction, specifically ER stress (ERS), is a pathophysiological response involved in lipid metabolism and cardiovascular lesions. Therefore, suppression of ERS may improve lipid metabolic disorders and reduce cardiovascular risk. Herein, we focus on novel breakthro...

Under the endoscopic observation with magnification endoscopy and narrow-band imaging, one of the novel findings in gastric neoplasms is white opaque substance (WOS), which is a manifestation of intracellular accumulation of lipid droplets. To elucidate the significance of this WOS formation, detailed lipid metabolism should be understood in gastric membranes. Recently, expression profiles of l...

Background: The liver plays a main role in the production and metabolism of lipoproteins, and then impaired lipid metabolism is often seen in patients with liver cirrhosis and chronic hepatitis (CH). As a result, plasma lipid levels could be as useful indicators of liver function and patient's prognosis especially in liver cirrhosis. Methods: We measured the lipoprotein levels in 77 consecutiv...

Background: Fatty acids are known to be critically important in multiple biological functions. Phospholipid fatty acids of follicular fluid, an important microenvironment for the development of oocytes, may contribute to the women’s fertility and the efficacy of assisted reproduction techniques. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of fatty acid composition of follicular fluid ph...

Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is an age-associated disorder that leads to neurocognitive impairment. Its main pathological hallmarks include amyloid beta (Aβ) plaques and hyperphosphorylated tau forming intracellular neurofibrillary tangles (NFT). Hyperactivation of a tau-phosphorylating protein, cdk5 by its activator p25 has been shown to be associated with AD. Cdk5 is believed to be playing an imp...
