Objective This study was performed to identify the correlation between contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) and contrast-enhanced multidetector computed tomography (CE-MDCT) as well as the correlation between serum liver enzyme concentrations and CE-MDCT in classification of the severity of blunt hepatic trauma using CE-MDCT as a reference standard. Materials and methods A blunt liver trauma mod...

Introduction: The fate of xenobiotics that is present, increasing day by day. The increasing fates altered or inhibit the metabolic activities like detoxification and biotransformation. Methods: The present study highlights this slow biotransformation and detoxification on the basis of specific enzymes which have a say in assessment of mercuric chloride toxicity and modulation by Panax ginse...

biomarkers are assigned as early warning systems regarding aquatic organisms exposed to pollutants. among which, however, measurement of esterase enzymes activity specially cholinesterase of fish tissues, is a marker for exposure to organophosphate pesticide and carbamates, and this biomarker has been used widely in broad range of investigations. a number of capoeta capoeta gracilis (:cyprinida...

Lipid accumulation in the liver due to chronic alcohol consumption (CAC) is crucial development of disease (ALD). It promoted by NADH/NAD ratio increase via dehydrogenase (ADH)-dependent metabolism and lipogenesis peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ (PPARγ) liver. The transcriptional activity PPARγ on lipogenic genes inhibited S-nitrosylation but activated denitrosylation S-nitrosoglut...

The major ribonuclease of human liver has been isolated in a four-step procedure. The protein appears homogeneous by several criteria. The amino acid composition and the amino-terminal sequence of the enzyme indicate that the protein is related to human pancreatic ribonuclease and to angiogenin, and that it may be identical with an eosinophil-derived neurotoxin and to a ribonuclease that has be...

The amount of S-adenosyl-l-methionine decarboxylase present in rat liver was enhanced 17-fold by administration of methylglyoxal bis(guanylhydrazone),* a specific inhibitor of the enzyme. The enzyme was purified 1400-fold in 50% yield from such liver extracts by chromatography on columns of the inhibitor bound to Sepharose. The purified enzyme had no spermidine synthetase activity.

Adenylosuccinase activity of rat liver is depressed by prolonged starvation, cortisol administration, high protein diets, and alloxan diabetes. The loss of activity is not due to the accumulation of a dissociable inhibitor or loss of a cofactor. Starvation produces no loss in activity for 1 day; thereafter the activities of the liver and spleen enzyme decay with a half-life of about 0.9 day. St...

Lactate dehydrogenase-1 (EC 1.1.1.27), intravenously injected into rabbits, was cleared with first-order kinetics (half-life 27 min), until at least 80% of the injected activity had disappeared from plasma. Radioactivity from injected 125I-labeled enzyme disappeared at this same rate. Trichloroacetic-acid-soluble breakdown products started to appear in the circulation shortly after injection of...
