Impulsive loads and walking loads can generate problematic structural vibrations in flooring-systems. Measures that may be taken to mitigate the problem would often be to consider the implementation of a tuned mass damper or even more advanced vibration control technologies; this in order to add damping to the structure. Basically also passive humans on a floor act as a damping source, but it a...

We present a Kπ mass spectrum analysis of the four-body semileptonic charm decay D+ → K−π+μ+ν in the range of 0.65 GeV/c2 < mKπ < 1.5 GeV/c 2. We observe a non-resonant contribution of 5.30 ± 0.74 − 0.96% with respect to the total D+ → K−π+μ+ν decay. For the K∗(892)0 resonance, we obtain a mass of 895.41 ± 0.32 − 0.43 MeV/c 2, a width of 47.79 ± 0.86 − 1.06 MeV/c 2, and a BlattWeisskopf damping...

shear modulus and damping ratio are important input parameters in dynamic analysis. a series of resonant column tests was carried out on pure clays and sand-clay mixtures prepared at different densities to investigate the effects of aggregate content, confining stress, void ratio and clay plasticity on the maximum shear modulus and minimum damping ratio. test results revealed an increase in the...

verifying the behavior of shear walls in a tall building requires reliable response results. this paper examined nonlinear fiber element modeling of a slender reinforced concrete shear wall during large-scale shaking table testing. the goal was to understand and validate the inelastic responses given by fiber models using time history analysis. reasonable agreement was found between the numeric...

In order to simulate the Stirling engine more easily, the stiffness and damping ratio of the crankshaft bearing are assumed to be steady-state in the research before, but this assumption is contrary to the real condition. Therefore, in this paper, a time-varying stiffness and damping ratio of the crankshaft bearing simulation method has been proposed. Compared with the simulation results of the...

We present a four-body semileptonic charm decay D → Kπμν analysis in the range of 0.65 GeV/c < mKπ < 1.5 GeV/c . We observe a low mass scalar contribution of 5.30 ± 0.74 0.99 − 0.96% with respect to the total D →Kπμν decay, compatible with the phase shift found by the LASS elastic scattering experiment. For the K(892) resonance, we obtain a mass of 895.41 ± 0.32 − 0.43 MeV/c , a width of 47.79 ...

Particle damping is a technique to reduce the structural vibrations by means of placing small metallic particles inside a cavity that is attached to the structure at location of high vibration amplitudes. In this paper, we have presented an analytical model to simulate the particle damping of two dimensional transient vibrations in structure operating under high centrifugal loads. The simulatio...

INTRODUCTION For a resonant mass sensor, one definition of sensitivity is the ratio of resonant frequency change to mass change. This is not the complete story, however, as the change in resonant frequency needs to be detectable. Thus, the resonator’s Q factor (which is inversely related to damping ratio) is an important characteristic of the resonator. A low Q factor corresponds to a broad res...
