In this paper, I argue that the programming languages provided in current mainstream CASes are not suitable for general purpose programming. To address this problem, I developed MrMathematica. MrMathematica is a connection between Mathematica and PLT-Scheme, which provides the ability to call Mathematica from MzScheme. The two languages share some common ground, but are mostly complementary to ...

The use of Mathematica in deriving mean likelihood estimators is discussed. Comparisons are made between the mean likelihood estimator, the maximum likelihood estimator, and the Bayes estimator based on a Jeffrey’s noninformative prior. These estimators are compared using the mean-square error criterion and Pitman measure of closeness. In some cases it is possible, using Mathematica, to derive ...

Mathematica is a versatile equipment for doing numeric and symbolic computations and it has wide spread applications in all branches of science. Mathematica has a complete consistency to design it at every stage that gives it multilevel capability and helps advanced usage evolve naturally. Mathematica functions work for any precision of number and it can be easily computed with symbols, represe...

We call our innate ability for computation the ‘mathematica utens’. This paper is an attempt to introduce a cognitively based semiotic model for the concepts of such ‘naive’ mathematics. We argue that (naive) mathematics is a level of knowledge representation mediating between (naive) logic and natural language.

This article introduces a Mathematica package providing a graphics export function that automatically replaces Mathematica expressions in a graphic by the corresponding LaTeX constructs and positions them correctly. It thus facilitates the creation of publication-quality Enscapulated PostScript (EPS) graphics.

Mathematica does nearly all the ordinary engineering mathematics which working engineers need. Mathematica has always done more than Computer Algebra (CA). Numerics, graphics, and user-interface matters have been smoothly integrated with the CA. Mathematica 3 adds mathematical word processing and hyperlinks. This opens the way to truly impressive, useful ‘electronic books’, ‘interactive enginee...

UNLABELLED MathSBML is a Mathematica package designed for manipulating Systems Biology Markup Language (SBML) models. It converts SBML models into Mathematica data structures and provides a platform for manipulating and evaluating these models. Once a model is read by MathSBML, it is fully compatible with standard Mathematica functions such as NDSolve (a differential-algebraic equations solver)...
