H [PV Mo O ] catalyzed oxidation of thiols to related disulfides under microwave irradiation(MW). 5 2 10 40 Hydrogen Peroxide as an oxidizing reagent under mild conditions carried out this reaction. This system provides an efficient convenient and practical method for the syntheses of symmetrical disulfides. In this work, the comparisons among the Keggin and Dawson type polyoxometalates are add...

We report the operation of a Bloch oscillator. The active medium was a staticvoltage driven, doped GaAs/AlAs superlattice which was electromagnetically coupled to a resonator. The oscillator produced tuneable microwave radiation (frequency ~ 60 GHz; power ~ 0.5 mW; efficiency ~ 4 %). The gain (~ 10 cm) was due to the nonlinearity mediated by miniband electrons. We also present a theory of the o...

We proposed a 2.4/5.15 GHz dual-band voltagecontrolled oscillator which consists of a voltage-controlled oscillator and an injection-locked oscillator. Its upper and lower band frequencies are 4.48 5.86 GHz and 2.24 2.93 GHz, respectively. With the power consumption of 3.2 mW, their phase noises are 115 and 121 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz offset. A dual-frequency 1.55 µm laser for CW low noise microwave, millimeter and sub millimeter wave synthesis is demonstrated, where frequency stabilization is possible on each wavelength independently. The solid state Er:Yb laser output power is 7 mW. The amplitude noise is -150 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz offset frequency. In free running regime, the frequency noise is 3.10(5)/f Hz/sqrt(Hz) (800 Hz on a 1µs ti...

BACKGROUND Due to its complexity and risk of bleeding, the Maze III procedure has been largely replaced by surgical ablation for atrial fibrillation (AF) using alternative energy sources. Radiofrequency (RF) and microwave (MW) are the most commonly used energy forms. In this study, we sought to compare these energy modalities in terms of clinical outcomes. METHODS Two hundred five patients un...

The effect of a temporally incoherent magnetic field ('noise') on microwave-induced spatial learning deficit in the rat was investigated. Rats were trained in six sessions to locate a submerged platform in a circular water maze. Four treatment groups of rats were studied: microwave-exposure (2450-MHz continuous-wave microwaves, power density 2 mW/cm(2), average whole-body specific absorption ra...

Nitrous oxide (N2O) is considered the primary source of NOx in atmosphere, and among several abatement processes, catalytic decomposition most promising. The thermal energy necessary for this reaction generally provided from external side reactor by burning fossil fuels. In present work, order to overcome limits related greenhouse gas emissions, high heat transfer resistance, losses, a microwav...

BACKGROUND Microwave therapy is a minimal invasive procedure and has been employed in clinical practice for the treatment of various types of cancers. However, its therapeutic application in non-small-cell lung cancer and the underlying mechanism remains to be investigated. This study aimed to investigate its effect on Lewis lung carcinoma (LLC) tumor in vivo. METHODS Fifty LLC tumor-bearing ...

PURPOSE To compare retrospectively the outcomes and complications of transcatheter arterial chemoembolization with drug-eluting embolic agents combined with radiofrequency (RF) ablation or microwave (MW) ablation in treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). MATERIALS AND METHODS From 2003-2011, 89 patients with HCC received a combination therapy-transcatheter arterial chemoembolization plu...

The present experiment was designed to study the 2.45 GHz low-level microwave (MW) irradiation-induced stress response and its effect on implantation or pregnancy in female mice. Twelve-week-old mice were exposed to MW radiation (continuous wave for 2 h/day for 45 days, frequency 2.45 GHz, power density=0.033549 mW/cm(2), and specific absorption rate=0.023023 W/kg). At the end of a total of 45 ...
