CONTEXT There are very few studies evaluating efficacy of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) in hair restoration and its combination with microneedling. As far as ascertained, there is no study to evaluate efficacy of microneedling with PRP plus topical minoxidil (5%) versus topical minoxidil (5%) alone in androgenetic alopecia (AGA). AIMS This study aims (1) to compare the efficacy of (a) topical mi...

Minoxidil and Rosemary essential oil have been used for several years to stimulate hair growth. Therefore, coadministration of both Minoxidil and Rosemary essential oil could enhance hair growth. The chemical/biological characteristics of liposomes, which encapsulate both hydrophobic and hydrophilic drugs, can be utilized to encapsulate the herbal and chemical drug concoction concomitantly. A t...

The systemic, cardiovascular hemodynamic and biochemical interactions between clonidine and minoxidil were studied in ten patients with refractory and/or accelerated hypertension. Clonidine in oral doses of 150 to 900 micrograms/day decreased mean blood pressure (MAP) 18.6 mm Hg (p less than 0.01), average heart rate (HR) 16.4 bpm (p less than 0.01), limb blood flow 1.63 ml/100 g min (p less th...

Topical minoxidil, the only approved treatment for female pattern hair loss (FPHL), has been associated with scalp allergic contact dermatitis (ACD). We report the case of 2 female patients who developed ACD from minoxidil solution with severe telogen effluvium and psoriasiform scalp dermatitis. Scalp dermoscopy was useful to identify the psoriasiform vascular pattern, whereas patch testing mad...

Female pattern hair loss is a common but difficult to manage condition. Commonly used treatments include oral antiandrogens such as spironolactone and topical minoxidil. The response to treatment is variable. We report a woman whose hair loss progressed while using spironolactone and topical minoxidil in combination, but reversed with flutamide, a potent androgen receptor antagonist.

the aim of this work was to develop and evaluate a minoxidil foamable emu oil emulsion with the purpose of improving minoxidil permeation into the skin, increasing hair growth , reducing skin irritation, and increasing consumer compliance. minoxidil was dissolved in a solvent system comprising ethanol: glycerin: lactic acid: water (10:20:5:65). the foamable emulsion was prepared by mixing the o...

Background: Minoxidil has been reported to inhibit in vitro fibroblast proliferation and lysyl hydroxylase activity, a key enzyme in collagen biosynthesis. These in-vitro effects proposed minoxidil to be a potential antifibrotic agent. The present study aimed to investigate the effects of minoxidil gel on wound healing procedure in a second-degree burn model in rats.  Materials and methods: Wis...

Background & Objectives: Considering the prevalence of Alopecia areata, , failure of treatment, and the unknown pathogenesis of this illness, a comparative study was performed by using topical Minoxidil 2% and topical rosemary solution alone and in combination to treatment this disease. Materials & Methods: This study is a clinical trial performed on 200 patients with Alopecia areata referri...
