Discharge of organic substances into air has been strongly prohibited since some decades ago, to preserve comfortable natural environment. Though hydrocarbons, alcohols and chlorinated hydrocarbons had been used as the degreasing agent in industries, these solvents may also affect to our environment, and it is necessary to remove them from air as much as possible. This study was performed aimin...

SUMMARY The manufacture of magnetic tape commonly requires the use of large amounts of mixed solvents that must be evaporated and then collected. The most widely used method for controlling the solvent emissions from the coating line is carbon adsorption. The solvent is recovered from the carbon by steam injection into the solent-laden bed, condensation of the water-vapor mixture, and separatio...

The retention behavior and mechanism of methyl, ethyl, propyl, isopropyl, buthyl and isobuthyl benzoates have been studied at different eluent compositions of aqueous mixtures with water-soluble organic solvents (methanol, ethanol, 1-propanol, 2-propanol, acetonitrile (AN), 1,4-dioxane and tetrahydrofuran (THF)) in RPLC. The retention of the solutes is discussed based on the solvent composition...

Equilibria of the reaction of molybdenum(VI) with L-aspartic acid (Asp) and L- Glutamic acid(Glu) have been studied by spectrophotometric measurements in mixed solvent systems at an ionicstrength of 0.2 mol/dm3 sodium perchlorate, employed (15, 20, 25, 30± 0.1°C) at pH ranges of 3.2to 5.5 with a high ratio of ligand to metal. The stability constants of the complexes and theresulting free energy...

A comprehensive model has been developed for calculating the viscosity of aqueous or mixed-solvent electrolyte systems ranging from dilute solutions to fused salts. The model incorporates a mixing rule for calculating the viscosity of solvent mixtures and a method for predicting the effect of finite electrolyte concentrations. The mixing rule represents the viscosity of multicomponent solvent m...

A comprehensive model has been developed for calculating self-diffusion coefficients in mixedsolvent electrolyte solutions. The model includes methods for calculating the self-diffusion coefficients of ions and neutral species at infinite dilution and for predicting the effect of finite concentrations of electrolytes. For limiting diffusivities, a mixing rule has been developed for predicting t...

A comprehensive mixed-solvent electrolyte model has been applied to calculate phase equilibria and other thermodynamic properties of multicomponent solutions containing salts, acids and bases in wide concentration ranges. The model combines an excess Gibbs energy model with detailed speciation calculations. The excess Gibbs energy model consists of a long-range interaction contribution represen...

A comprehensive model has been developed for calculating the surface tension of aqueous, nonaqueous, and mixedsolvent electrolyte systems ranging from dilute solutions to fused salts. Themodel consists of a correlation for computing the surface tension of solvent mixtures and an expression for the effect of electrolyte concentration. The dependence of surface tension on electrolyte concentratio...

Separation of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons was performed by RP-HPLC using mixed micellar mobile phase. Effect of temperature, types and amounts of coorganic solvent in mobile phase on efficiency, asymmetry factor and selectivity factor showed that the appropriate condition for separation of these compounds was 3% isopropanol (V/V) as co-organic solvent in mobile phase at 40°C. Analysis of...

A spectrophotometric method is used to determine the acidity constants of some derivatives of 9,10-anthraquinone in binary methanol-water mixtures at 25 °C. There is a linear inverse relationship between pKa of all acids and the mole fraction of methanol in the mixed solvent. The influence of substituents in the molecular structure on the ionization constants is discussed.
