This paper proposes one possibility to generalize the morphological operations particularly, dilation, erosion, opening, and closing to color images. First, properties of a desirable generalization are stated and a brief review is done on former approaches. Then, the method is explained, which is based on a total ordering of the colors in an image induced by its color histogram; this is valid f...

This paper proposes an approach for mathematical morphology operators whose structuring element can locally adapt its orientation across the pixels of the image. The orientation at each pixel is extracted by means of a diffusion process of the average squared gradient field. The resulting vector field, the average squared gradient vector flow, extends the orientation information from the edges ...

We establish in this paper the link between the two main approaches for fuzzy mathematical morphology, based on duality with respect to complementation and on the adjunction property, respectively. We also prove that the corresponding definitions of fuzzy dilation and erosion are the most general ones if a set of classical properties is required. © 2009 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

The concept of strictness of morphological operators is discussed, and it is shown that the ordinary morphological operators have extreme strictness which leads to sensitivity to noise and digital artifacts. Based on this observation new morphological operators that generalize the ordinary morphological operators, are de ned. The generalized operators have controllable strictness and so excessi...

Algorithms are presented which allow to perform morphological transformations on unorganised sets of points represented by their Delaunay triangulation. The results show that these algorithms could behaves as morphological operators such as erosion, dilatation, opening do. As a matter of fact, they actually act as “shape filter”. These algorithms are applied to the problem of scene reconstructi...

Background and Objective: Different morphologies are factors for the effectiveness of training programs on subjects. The aim of this study was the effect of 8-week Tai Chi exercise on static and dynamic balance in women with multiple sclerosis (MS) with emphasis on mesomorph and endomorph's morphology. Materials and Methods: In a clinical trial, 48 patients with MS were purposefully select...

the concept of “form of literary work” highly significant in formalism depends on the two following suggestions. 1) any part of literature, from word to speech, must be studied and known on the basis of its relationship with other parts or constitutes. thus, recognition of structural or original foundation of the works of art is the most important function of any given literary research. 2)...

flower morphology of ten fritillaria species of subgenera theresia and fritillaria growing wild in iran is studied using seventy morphological characters. qualitative and quantitative datasets separated taxa into subgenera, sectional and groups. three enigmatic species f. caucasica, f. zagrica (endemic to zagros mountains) and f. pinardii (recently reported from zagros mountains) appeared as cl...
