The hypotensive effect of garlic has been well-documented in human subjects and animals. Since endothelial activity regulates vascular reactivity in physiological and pathophysiological conditions, the aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of garlic on endothelium-dependent and independent relaxation of rat aorta for elucidation of mechanism of the garlic anti-hypertensive effe...

Numerical investigation of flow around a square cylinder are presented using the multi-relaxation-time lattice Boltzmann methods at different Reynolds numbers. A detail analysis are given in terms of time-trace analysis of drag and lift coefficients, power spectra analysis of lift coefficient, vorticity contours visualizations, streamlines and phase diagrams. A number of physical quantities mea...

AIMS We tested the hypothesis that abnormal left ventricular (LV) relaxation is associated with concentric LV geometry. METHODS AND RESULTS Doppler LV filling properties were studied in 1384 hypertensive participants without cardiovascular disease, from the HyperGEN population (731 women, 784 obese, 236 diabetic) and compared in four LV geometry groups; normal, concentric remodelling (3.5%), ...

In recent years, the thermal pseudo-potential lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) has been widely adopted in numerical simulations of liquid–vapor phase transition systems. However, unit conversion for LBM remains incomplete and elusive, simulation efficiency is limited by uniformly single-block grid. this paper, dimensionless evolution equations with multi-relaxation time operators are derived conv...

The performance of a decision making unit (DMU) can be evaluated in either across-sectional or a time-series manner, and data envelopment analysis (DEA) is a useful method for both types of evaluation. The Malmquist productivity index (MPI) evaluates the change in efficiency of a DMU between two time periods. It is defined as the product of the Catch-up and Frontier-shift terms. In this pape...

Lattice Boltzmann methods are a popular mesoscopic alternative to classical computational fluid dynamics based on the macroscopic equations of continuum mechanics. Many variants lattice have been developed that vary in complexity, accuracy, and cost. Extensions available simulate multi-phase, multi-component, turbulent, non-Newtonian flows. In this work we present lbmpy, code generation package...

Background: Fatigue is one of the important factors in nursing performance because it affects the quality of care provided to the patients. In this regard, some complementary interventions such as Benson relaxation techniques may relieve fatigue. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of Benson relaxation on fatigue of nurses working in intensive care units. Methods: This is an...

The search for a parameter representing left ventricular relaxation from non-invasive and invasive diagnostic tools has been extensive, since heart failure (HF) with preserved ejection fraction (HF-pEF) is a global health problem. We explore here the feasibility using patient-specific cardiac computer modeling to capture diastolic parameters in patients suffering from different degrees of systo...

We present an algorithm for solving stochastic integer programming problems with recourse, based on a dual decomposition scheme and La-grangian relaxation. The approach can be applied to multi-stage problems with mixed-integer variables in each time stage. Numerical experience is presented for some two-stage test problems.

The Lattice Boltzmann Method algorithm is simplified by assuming constant numerical viscosity (the relaxation time fixed at $\tau=1$). This leads to the removal of distribution function from computer memory. To test solver Poiseuille and Driven Cavity flows are simulated analyzed. error solution decreases with grid size L as $L^{-2}$. Compared standard algorithm, presented formulation simpler s...
