We present experimental results demonstrating the possibility to tune wavelength of photon pair emitted through four wave mixing in a nanofiber, using pressure gas surrounding nanofiber. Using Argon, shift idler -1.1nm/bar is measured fine adjustment emission wavelength, allowing choose between different WDM channels.

Spinning is a prehistoric technology in which endless filaments, shorter fibers or twisted fibers are put together to produce yarns that serve as key element to assemble multifarious structural designs for diverse functions. Electrospinning has been regarded as the most effective and versatile technology to produce nanofibers with controlled fiber morphology, dimension and functional components...

Two low equivalent weight perfluorosulfonic acid (PFSA) polymers (825 EW and 733 EW) were successfully electrospun into nanofibers by adding as little as 0.3 wt% of high molecular weight poly(ethylene oxide) as a carrier polymer. The electrospun fiber morphology transitioned from cylindrical filaments to flat ribbons as the total concentration of PFSA + carrier in solution increased from 5 wt% ...

Nanofibrous scaffolds provide high surface area for cell attachment, and resemble the structure of the collagen fibers which naturally occur in the basement membrane and extracellular matrix. A label free and non-destructive method of assessing the interaction of cell tissue and scaffolds aids in the ability to discern the effective quality and magnitude of any scaffold modifications. Impedance...

INTRODUCTION Dilated cardiomyopathy is a major cause of progressive heart failure. Utilization of stem cell therapy offers a potential means of regenerating viable cardiac tissue. However, a major obstacle to stem cell therapy is the delivery and survival of implanted stem cells in the ischemic heart. To address this issue, we have developed a biomimetic aligned nanofibrous cardiac patch and ch...

Cellular microenvironments are important in coaxing cells to behave collectively as functional, structured tissues. Important cues in this microenvironment are the chemical, mechanical and spatial arrangement of the supporting matrix in the extracellular space. In engineered tissues, synthetic scaffolding provides many of these microenvironmental cues. Key requirements are that synthetic scaffo...

Objective(s): In this work, electrospun nanofibers were explored as drug delivery vehicles using tetracycline as a model drug.  Nanocomposite fibers including chitosan (CS)/poly (ethylene oxide) (PEO) and antibiotic were successfully prepared using electrospinning. CS blended with PEO considering a weight ratio of (90/10), and then, nanofibrous samples were successfully e...

conventional transdermal drug delivery systems (tdds) have been designed for drug delivery through the skin. these systems use the permeability property of stratum corneum, the outermost surface layer of the skin. applying polymeric micro and nanofibers in drug delivery has recently attracted great attention and the electrospinning technique is the preferred method for polymeric micro-nanofiber...

a new natural and environmental friendly wound dressing was introduced for the first time that was prepared by electrospinning method. this new wound dressing has chitosan base, and poly (ethylene oxide) was added as co-spinning agent to improve spinnability of chitosan. moreover, thyme extract as a natural antibacterial additive was introduced in the as electrospun nanofibers scaffold in order...
