Understanding the structure of hybrid nanoparticle-lipid multilayers is fundamental importance to their bioanalytical applications and nanotoxicity, where nanoparticle-membrane interactions play an important role. Poly(amidoamine) (PAMAM) dendrimers are branched polymeric nanoparticles with potential biomedical due precise tunability physicochemical properties. Here, effect PAMAM (2.9–4.5 nm) e...

Nanotechnology is an emerging research field that helps in reviving the structural design, synthesis and fabrication at the molecular magnitude. There are approximately 130 nanopharmaceutical products in development including~nanoparticles, nanocrystals, dendrimers, liposomes and micelles. The increase in the selectivity and stability of therapeutic agents can be achieved with the help of Nanop...

Herein, we present a facile strategy to controllably build up dendrimicelles by self-assembly of anionic PAMAM dendrimers with cationic-neutral diblock copolymers. We present a systematic study incorporating a full decade (0-9) of dendrimer generations, tracing the gradual variation from aggregates (G0 and G1) to self-assembled micelles (G2-G8), and an unidendrimer micelle structure (G9) by dif...

Gold-dendrimer nanocomposites were obtained for the first time by a simple colloidal approach based on the use of polyamidoamine dendrimers with succinamic acid terminal groups and dodecanediamine core. Spherical and highly crystalline nanoparticles with dimensions between 3 nm and 60 nm, and size-polydispersity depending on the synthesis conditions, have been generated. The influence of the st...

Surface immobilized polyamidoamine (PAMAM) dendrimer templated Pt nanoparticles were employed as precursors to heterogeneous catalysts. CO oxidation catalysis and in situ infrared spectroscopy were used to evaluate conditions for dendrimer removal. Infrared spectroscopy showed that PAMAM dendrimer amide bonds begin decomposing at temperatures as low as 75 degrees C. Although the amide stretches...

CdS/dendrimer nanocomposites can be synthesized from methanolic Cd(2+) and S(2-) with amine-terminated polyamidoamine dendrimers of generation 8 (G8NH(2)) as stabilizers. By controlling the preparation conditions, nanoparticles with diameters < or = 2 nm can be obtained with a narrow size distribution. They show blue photoluminescence at approximately 450 nm. We studied the effects of various a...

A one-atom controlled platinum sub-nanocluster (under 1 nm) was synthesized using a phenylazomethine dendrimer template. This sub-nanocluster (SNC) catalyst exhibits a remarkable catalytic activity during reductive amination compared to the standard platinum nanoparticles of 2.2 ± 0.8 nm under mild conditions and a low catalyst loading. In addition, this catalyst has a remarkable poison-toleran...

We report electrocatalytic oxidation of formic acid using monometallic and bimetallic dendrimer-encapsulated nanoparticles (DENs). The results indicate that the Au147@Pt DENs exhibit better electrocatalytic activity and low CO formation. Theoretical calculations attribute the observed activity to the deformation of nanoparticle structure, slow dehydration of formic acid, and weak binding of CO ...

A near infrared (NIR) light-responsive supramolecular hydrogel consisting of α-cyclodextrin and poly(ethylene glycol)-modified dendrimer-encapsulated platinum nanoparticles was developed. Upon NIR irradiation, this hydrogel underwent a photothermo-sensitive degradation to release the entrapped therapeutic agents in an on-demand and dose-tunable fashion.

Dendrimer-entrapped gold nanoparticles (Au DENPs) can be formed using low-generation dendrimers pre-modified by polyethylene glycol (PEG). The formed PEGylated Au DENPs with desirable stability, cytocompatibility, and X-ray attenuation properties enable efficient computed tomography imaging of the heart and tumor model of mice.
